my gauge relocation, with pics

just finished making some rings, i really like how it turned out. im still debating on covering the ring (not much of the ring is shown anyways) so i think im going to paint it, would be 100x easier and faster.

you guys think i should paint them black (to match the ring around the gauge) or silver (to match the cup holder trim)?

let me know what you think!

gauges, rings, and cup holder trim

the rings. i used a drill press and the bit was angled, so thats how they came out. i could easily break them with my hands, but when you tighten the gauge to it, it holds perfect.

in the cup holder trim, perfect fit!

on the gauges

this is pretty much how its going to sit in the car, the rings will be a little bit lower than the cup holder trim, and the top of the gauge will be flush with the top of the cup holder trim

Here is a very rough photoshop of both colors. Personally I would go with black.
I hope this helps a little.

Never thought to put gauges in the cupholders...but I use those for my garage door opener and the ashtray coin cup. Cans of cream soda go in the back holder. I am interested in how this turns out.

That looks like it is going to be pretty sweet, but just one thing you could add...make the gauges slightly angled so that you can see them better. Kind of how you are angling the 6.5" in your wall, just make that adapter ring in the cup holder like a slice of cheese(>).

Looks like good work. I personally would love my gauges at eye sight. Which they are , its alot safer driving then having to glance down there while you are at the track or etc.

For a second there, it looked like your entire dash assymbly was on your bed. But that is just, what, **** carpet in your MINI? A little shakey to tell.
