Double Sided Tape Removal Without Scratching

So I am going to debadge the boot and am all for it minus the scratching that will be left from using a plastic scraper and a combination of Goof Off, rubbing alcohol, and WD40. I also want to get a nasty strip of this stuff off my front bumper.

Does anyone know how to get off the double sided tape safely?

Umm...I am not sure I would use a plastic scraper, a lot of people have used floss. I used a hair drier and pulled on the badge lettering. Then did some clean up with goof off. Just my $.02.

The hair dryer should work on the double sided tape too.

When Mike at AC took my badge off he just used a heat gun. I took the cup holder out of the inside using floss and Goo Gone. Goo Gone will dissolve plastic so I didn't leave it on very long, but the residual sticky just melted away. I followed that up with a wipe down of water and then waxed.

+1 for heat. I used a blow dryer for my door sills. Then you can use goo gone, wd40, or whatever to get the rest of the stick off. Dental floss helps get it started too.

Fishing line and WD-40 here.

Plenty of discussion on this and other methods here:

Heat gun/hair dryer and WD-40. If need be, for really stubborn cases, a plastic 'razor blade' can be used very carefully along with the WD-40 to help lift the adhesive. Try to minimize contact with the paint using the blade.

I just did this to mine. I used a heat gun to warm it up slightly, then dental floss, doubled or tripled, working it under the edge of each letter. They came off leaving the glue on the car. The glue seems like a liquid gasket type material. It peeled right off without much residue. A little Griot's Garage Adhesive Remover and the tiny bit of stuff left over was gone. Took about 5 minutes total.

The 3M adhesive/wax remover (Pep Boys has it) is absolutely the best thing to use. It is far superior to goo-gone or WD-40. It removes chewing gum effortlessly, and works great for stubborn bugs.

Heat before removal, dental floss, 3M adhesive remover, and a lot of finger rubbing will do the trick!

I agree, definitely heat before removing any badges. Also, rather than using dental floss, use a fishing line (less likely to break - when force is use).
