"How to" with your MINI

I have a great idea for all of us mini lovers.
We all like our mini and we want to take care of it, right?
So why not -those who have the knowledge- post videos with "how to" clips, of installing the simple modifications, one can do to his mini!

I like to do the jobs on my mini on my own, i don't want anyone else fiddling with my mini, nor do i want to pay for it! Anything i can do on my own is good enough for me!

Like for instance, it be interesting to see a "how to" on installing the "chrome line" parts on the inside, or the outside, or both . But thats only one suggestion, take for e.g. the outer side mirrors. How do i place the checker mirrors there, it be interesting to see?

Anyway im sure there are more stuff that we can be guided on how to!

That's a pretty sweet thought... It'd be a whole lot better than picture by picture instructions...

Cool idea, at least.

instead of encouraging them to offer their help...why not start out by posting your own "how to" video - this way they are more encouraged to do it for you...

I've photo documented a few installs so far, but no video, yet. I bought a domain to place it all, just haven't had a chance to put it all up yet...

good idea, though!

Great FortyTwo just let us know when the documentation (either photo or video) will be up somewhere, and also make sure there are many steps for the photos so a non advanced with mods user, can easily understand and not... brake anything while mounting!

I'm going to try to do a video this weekend on removing the ebrake boot & handle then replacing the handle with a wooden one I made. Might be useful to those who want to make replacement boots (or order one from Redline).

Redline has instructions on their website that are very helpful. I've replaced two shift boots and two e-brake boots using their instructions. Through the 4 processes, I only uttered maybe 7 or 8 cuss words. That's a positive testement, trust me.

That's a good idea.

I think I might make some videos for removal of headlight & tail light rings, gas caps, belt lines... and maybe door handles (jeeeezz, that would be like a 2 hr video )

You know how we have a "before you post" thread, FAQ, etc...

how about a DYI thread w/ video instructions...This could be started under the modification area... just some thoughts to continue this idea..

Take a look at this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=119992

The 2007 is very similar to the 2006. I used the instructions from MiniMania to get mine off. See the link at the end of the thread.

So any differences from '07 to '06, or at least major ones that would be good to know before doing an install...or just follow the instructions in that link?....also, how about removing the shifter boot?

the shifter boot is pretty straight forward...put your fingers on the inside of the chrome ring around the shifter and pull inward, and up...itll come out pretty easy...then when thats free pull up on the shift **** and the entire thing will come off.
