Suppressing reflection from defroster vent?

I've been becoming increasingly sensitive lately to the reflection on the inside of the windshield from the somewhat-reflective black plastic defroster vent. I'd like to do something to make that go away. It obviously not hugely distracting, but it's been bothering me. Flat black paint might do the job, but I was thinking that maybe some fuzzy adhesive-backed felt-like material (perhaps like that in the glovebox?) applied to the surface would do the job, too. Given the level of OCD in this forum, I figure *someone's* gotta have already tackled this. Any suggestions? Does the dash cover need to be removed to access that vent? Where would I go about finding that sticky felt stuff?

I've never noticed it, but I'll likely be annoyed by it today after reading this post... Armor All (and I'm sure a few other companies) makes a "low gloss" protectant. That might do the trick for you...

Spray it with a clear flat sheen paint.

I submit that you start out by giving it some time...perhaps you'll just get over it. Sometimes the cure is worse than the initial problem...and in the end that's no solution as it can call even more attention to the issue. There have been many things about MINIs (I've had two) that bothered me for a season, or have come up here as "problems," but in the end it was my own thinking/perception that had to evolve somewhat. This took time, patience, and often learning about the benefit of certain design elements that gave it's quirkiness a purpose that I could ultimately appreciate.

What kind of kickback do you get from DP for shilling their products and website?

Ignoring the problem *might* make it go away, but I'm kind of looking for a project. Basically I want to make it nonreflective. Felt might collect dust and be a pain to clean. Flat black paint seems like it might work...

low gloss Armourall......still VERY shiny

try using polarized sunglasses..that will greatly minimize or even eliminate those reflections much of the time
