Custom Color Lines?

Hello. I'm getting ready to place an order for a new MCS with a Tuscan Beige interior, and I CAN'T STAND the cream white color line that comes with it, or any of the other color lines for that matter. I'm planning on going with either a Piano Black or Englash Oak interior surface, and want a colorline that truly compliments my choice.

I've seen the recent thread by Paul who's done his own red vinyl color line (absolutely f-ing beautiful BTW Paul), but I can tell you I have no aptitude for the do-it-yourself kind of work. I much prefer to pay someone a good rate for skillful work.

Any idea of how I might go about doing this?

Thanks much.

Just find a local auto interior shop. They will have many different vinyl choices.

Good luck.

That was Paul, who the OP already mentioned in his post.

Any local auto-interior places should have a wide selection of vinyls to do wrap up your color line.

Can't help you with your actual question, but just wanted to say I completely agree with you--the cream line interior looks terrible with the Tuscan beige. It just doesn't match. It'd even look better with black than the cream line...and if you get the piano black surface with it, that might look quite good.

Good luck.

I'm in the same boat with the Tuscan Beige. The cream color looks silly to me. My MA told me that I can order the parts and have the cream bits replaced with black. I'm not sure on the pricing yet or if you'd be interested in black. I too have the piano black interior.

Cheers,

Adam

Wondermini & Symphosomatic... you both read my mind. Black is the color I had in mind when I posted this thread, to go with Piano Black Trim, or even a dark gray to match the dash. The Mini is so customizable that I think people have a tendency to go contrast crazy, and it's just too much for me.

I had been thinking about English Oak, but decided that between BRG, Tuscan Beige, and whatever color line I chose, to throw wood in there was just an overkill of style. Black will look hot with the Tuscan Beige, really set each other off nice, and compliment the exterior black of the JCW Aero Kit I intend to add.

Symphosomatic- Do you mean your MA told you that the dealership can replace the cream color line with black? That would be ideal, I figured I'd have to go to a third party...

Thanks All !!

If either of you guys want to trade me, I've got the dark charcoal color line and was thinking about swapping out for the Cream color line. If either of you would be interested, let me know. We could just swap and split the shipping.

Hi there,

Yes, the dealership said that they can get the parts but you'd have to pay for them. It's going to be too expensive for me. In Canada it's around $700 plus labor so I'd be looking at around $1000 :(

Good luck,

Adam

Make friends with a car painter. Or marry one, like I did. Then, everything is fixable.

Thanks for the offer. I'm not sure about the charcoal. I think it will just add another contrast. I think I'm going to have someone recover the parts in black or beige if I can find one that matches.

Take care,

Adam

Yeah, thanks for the offer too, but I haven't even placed my order for my MINI yet so I'm a bit premature... just planning for the future at this stage, and like Symphosomatic, I think I'll be going for an exact color match, likely a glossy black, or possibly the beige.

Thanks though!

Yikes! I am interesting in swapping out my dark grey color line for the OEM cream white one. If anyone has any info on a 3rd party to get the parts, let me know. Or, if anyone is thinking of changing their cream white and wants to pass it on...

DARK GREY COLOR LINE WITH ARMRESTS - WANTED

Hi. I/m new to the forum. I have new R56 with ROOSTER RED colour line option. It is a leased car. I want to remove and have the dark grey version installed. I think I probably need to keep the red set, when (or if) I return car. Anyone with the dark grey version (I need the 3 pieces under the dash and the 2 armrests) have theirs to sell? I might consider trading my red ones, but (as I said) my car is a lease and I may be sorry later. Anyone changed theirs out? Is it difficult to remove these pieces? Thanks.

Bump.

Just curious if anyone had figured anything out. I'm in the predicament were I'd like to get rid of the dark grey, and grab the mellow yellow color line. Just seems to look nicer with the whole car. So if anyone can help out, I'd appreciate it.

DIY Color Line Mods

Here are a couple things I have done to my 2011 MCS and my friends seem to think they turned out great:

Dash Color Line in Punched Leather:

Carbon Fiber door pulls and dash compartment door:

Good Luck and dive right in!

I have used Redline to recover my center armrest in black leather, and I think I will try to cover the rest of the colorline to match. The center armrest was pretty straight forward, but there was no glueing involved.
I would much prefer to have these parts covered in leather than in vinyl, and the OEM parts, no matter what color, do look "cheaper", in my opinion, than the other parts of the doors and dash. I think I can do this!

All of the ColorLine parts remove easily enough. Pop them off and take them to a local upholstry shop, chose your color, and come back in a few days and you'll have exactly what you want.

That should only cost a fraction of what the dealer parts would be and you'll have something truly unique in your MINI.

I had my center armrest cover done in Polar Beige leather (to match my ColorLine) to add some color between my seats and it really makes a difference.
