Bought the car in FL -- the darker tint wasn't legal in NC . . . so I had to replace with the lighter tint. I would've been happy with either -- in fact 98% of the time I drive windows down on the cabrio.
But I would think that in hotter climates like FL, the darker the better if you want to keep the interior cool.
35% is the max legal here, too. But, if you have it done after your car is registered, they don't care. They will only ticket you for darker tint if they pull you over for something else and you give the cop an attitude. Or if they pull you over for driving like a total ***. I don't know about the 35% tint, but the 20% makes a big difference and the 5% on the sunroof is great.

In NC, the tint can be a problem during any annual inspection -- so you may not get a ticket if you tint after registration . . . but you don't want to deal with a potential problem once a year.
I have really dark windows...and it is hard to see it in the pics in the gallery. We don't have vehicle inspection in AR, so I have 15 on the front and 5 on the back. And I love my dark windows!
Close to spray paint. You can see in the windows if you put your face up to them and your hands around your face. Some people said it would be too dark at night...but it isn't. I have no problem with them.
Photos can be so misleading. Go to a local Mini Club meeting to check out what other people have done where you can see them in actual daylight conditions, and evening and night, if you're able.
