new tails

these came in today, I know its not for everyone, but i did a similar setup with my last car, and decided to carry it over to the mini. I like it a lot better than the chrome altezzas. the picture is the only one i could manage to take. It was almost dark, and i dont have a tripod so i had to rest the camera on the ground to stabalize it lol. anyways, i like the look and its not bad for $35. oh yeah..i got clear markers too

Looks like their Altezza tails, you can find them an ebay for like $50-$60 shipped or you can buy them else where for like $200.

yep eBay. I got this pair for 35 shipped. they came satin black, but i painted them gloss black to match the car. the only bad thing about this particular set is the top lens is just a reflector, so i only have 2 bulbs now. which doesnt matter in my case because i dont have rear fogs or brakelight mod. there was another set for about 60 that i liked more because it had a clear lens covering the tails...but i couldn't pass these up for 35

...i decided to paint the silver rings too, im slowly blacking out the car. this is how they looked new.

I have them on mine. Of course I had to retrofit a reverse light where the blank spot was.

Personally I like your new tail lights. I saw a set in person this past weekend at MOT, and really liked them. I have started to get the urge to de-chrome the out side of my '06 CR MCSC, and think they would go well with the general black and red theme of the car already. I've even considered painting my exhaust tips with hi-temp black paint. I saw that recently on a blacked out car, and it looked pretty slick. Also solves the issue of the black crud that seems to build up on the tips so quickly.

Its just a shame that no one makes tail lights for those of us that don't have the bumper mounted reverse light. If I do get around to changing out my tail lights I'll have to do the reverse light retrofit as well.

yeah, those are the ones. at least you know what they look like on your car if you ever decide to paint them like i did and why did you wire in reverse lights? did you think the one above your exhaust was not enough? and if you put them on the top, wouldnt they be red because of the lens?

No, mine is an '05. I had to pop the blank cover out and retrofit a pre-'05 reverse light in, which was very easy. the tail lights I have are the APC retro 3D lights which have no backup lights.

these were black, but theyre listed as satin black. more or less a flat black. I didnt think the flat black would look well against the gloss black paint, so thats why i painted them up

I think you would have been alright with leaving them flat black because of the OEM trim being of a dull nature. Other than that though, I bet the gloss looks good and blends right in with the OEM paint.

Fatherdeath... how did you wire in the replacement reverse light? Just spliced into the OEM tails' reverse lights, using a white fog in the knockout hole? I have an '06 and would need to wire in the reverse lamp.

fyi the top red thing on these is a refletor not a light.

They look decent on your car. I personally think it's a little to ricy for my car.

Sid, where did you get those red reflectors that are on the bumper cover? I'd like a set of those for my car.

EDIT ..... I'll have a look at them Friday at Mid-Ohio.

Don't get him started...

Actually, they're custom made from what I know. We need a TEMPLATE and a materials list, MSFIT!
