Ready to buy window tint

So, I am looking at tinting my windows, probably next Friday. I am having it done at Fabini's in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They have done very well with vehicles that my friends have taken their
(one guy has an S2000, yes a ricer, but it is very sleek and clean and is worth about 90k http://www.bullittproof.com/home.htm http://www.bullittproof.com/images/front_3.JPG )
So back to the mini. Would you do 35% all around or would you do 35% on the front two windows and 5% on the rear two and hatch?
Any suggestions and pictures would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Chris.

Living in Ohio, I went with 50% all around because I was concerned about visibility at night. How about 50% on the front and 35% around the back?

You might want to look into Hüper Optik ceramic films. They cut heat like nobody's business . It's not cheap, but I 've had it for 4 years and love it.

I had 35% (0% being clear) on sides only. Since the inside stayed dark, the front and rea rear looked blacked out too. Looked cool (in all senses), but couldn't see to the sides at all at night. First, I removed the door shading, but that made the car look like a delivery van. Now its all back to the factory standard tinting. Not so cool, but alot easier to see pedestrians and side street activity.

Another NAM-er I know recently went with 35% all around and loves it. Looks great and it's still OK at night, or so they say. I'm thinking about going that way when I do mine.

I meant to give you this link http://www.huperoptik.com/Automotive...t=NaviAuto.inc

The things I like so much about Hüper Optik are:
1. You can get more heat/UV protection without going darker. You can go darker of course and it just gets better.

2.It's tough stuff. It's been on my car for 4 years and looks brand new, never streaks when being cleaned and has stood up to dog paws.

3. It REALLY cuts glare! Almost as if it's polarized. I appreciate this the most when the L.A. sun finds it favorite spot right where my wimpy sunvisors won't cover.

If you have an R56, I hope they improved the visors...I'll check some other threads.

It's not cheap , as I've said--about $400 for all the glass, the sunroof and a
windshield sun strip. It takes an expert installer--I assume because it doesn't stretch as easily as standard tint films.

And then you have to find a dealer in your area. HO is so particular about who installs their films that there are not many dealers.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I did the same thing....50% all around. I always thought limo tint (5%) always made the car look cheaper for some reason. 50% is nice, and 35% is good if you want the dark look.

I would go with 15 or 20 all around....I have 20 all around on my Indi Blue/Black MCS, and it looks great! I got mine done at Spade Kreations for $170, and I recommend them!

Here are some older pictures of my MINI when I got the tint done.

Chris: I certainly wouldn't consider an S2000 that clean to be rice. Modified yes, but i personally don't think that's rice.

Polizei: I think that looks perfect. I just wish it wasn't completely illegal to have any tint on the side windows where i live.

btallack- The only reason why I said, "yes a ricer". Was because I did not think that the community would accept a S2000. But this S2000 is quite amazing. It was very tastefully done and to me looks far from any riced out car.

Polizei- Your car is exactly what I was looking for. Great Pics! Hopefully this is how mine will turn out.

My wife's Father's Day gift was to make me an appointment to get my windows tinted (not till 7/21 though ). I am torn between 50% and 35%. I have had both on my previous two cars and really prefer the 35% for the summer, but do think that it slightly hindered my night time vision at times. I really would like to do 35% on the sides and rear and 50% on the front (not a fan of the 6" front stripe that is legal in Ohio).

Thank you to all

O.K. so last night I got a really good deal on a set of H-Sport front and rear sway bars(27mm, 19mm) for only $200 shipped. So, my tint is going to wait a few weeks, but it will be done within a month...well before summer ends. And I will be getting 20% all around, Thanks to Polizei for the great photos so I could find exactly what I was looking for.
Also, thank you to all that helped with their suggestions and photos. They were all very much appreciated and helpfull.

I live in Vegas with a killer sun. Went with 5% Limo tint on the rear sides and the boot. Mid day or at night (when folks have their lights on) I can see other cars OK to the rear...dusk is kinda tough. Overcast probably would be as well but we never have overcast

NV allows 35% on the driver and pax glass but frankly doesn't enforce it (in fact 35% wasn't even an option!). I went with 20%. A little too dark. May switch back to something lighter, haven't decided. Limo glare strip. Also too dark. Can't see the color of some traffic lights through it.

One of the things that truly astounds me about the MINI is that the community is so diverse. Some people on here would certainly call that Rice, some people like me appreciate the work and the cleanliness of it.

Ha, I'm glad I could help Chris! I really love my tint, but if I could do it again I would go with 15%. The only time I have seeing through it is at night when there are NO street lights....otherwise it's perfectly fine!

I personally wouldn't go above 20%, as that is too light in my eyes. Overall I am very happy with my 20 all around.

Yeah...

What your buddy dumped into a car and what it's worth (i.e. could sell for) are two completely different numbers.

I was with him when a Porsche owner did not know what it was at first glance. Then offered him well, lets say well over 60k.

After looking at a bunch of different tints, I decided to go with 5% on the sun roof and 20% on the windows (except windshield). I was going to go with 35%, but that looked too light on cars with a lot of glass. I don't know about other places, but in MD, windshiled tint (other than factory) is illegal. So is tint darker than 35%, but they don't enforce that.
