Where can I get cheap driving light brackets?
Don't want to mount Hella 500's by drilling anything. Aren't there reasonably priced brackets that clamp somewhere instead of requiring drilling? Outmotoring and Pella clamps are expensive.
Depends on where you want to mount them.
The bonnet-mount brackets (which hold the lights against the front grille, at the ends of the bonnet stripes) have to be drilled - 3 small holes. ALl the holes are in the INSIDE of the bonnet though, and are totally hidden until the bonnet is raised and someone actually looks up at them.
The lower-mount brackets (like the Outmotoring ones) actually bolt to the front bumper plate, and so don't need any drilling - just pull off the bumper, find the pre-drilled holes in the metal bumper that best suit your preferred installation site and bolt them on. What they DO require you to to with most of them, however, is to make some small cuts in the lower grille to accomodate the actual lights and/or portions of the bracket (depends on where you mount them).
Honestly, from what I've seen, no matter what solution you choose, you'll need to make some small physical modifications to the front end to accomodate the brackets and/or lights - you just have to decide if you want to deal with 2 sets of 3 small holes in the inside of the bonnet (which can be plugged/painted if you de-install) or small cuts in the front lower grille (the MODded grille peice must be replaced if you deinstall). If anyone knows of brackets that do NOT need ANY drilling or modification to any grille peice, however, feel free to chime in.
Just a note: I personally wouldn't go much cheaper than the Outmotoring brackets. Whatever you use, you want to be annodized or powder-coated for the best possible resistance to the elements. In my opinion, it's less useful to save $20 on an item that will rust out in a year and have to be replaced (but that just might be me). I'd also recommend replacing all your light mounting hardware with stainless steel for this same reason (most of the stuff that comes with the lights is just galvanized steel and starts rusting in about 4 months).
