Hello:
I just ordered a set of PIAA lights for my MCS. PIAA is in the process of making a beefier bracket than the stock light bracket, but I was wondering if anyone has installed PIAA 520's and not had a vibration problem.

Also, does anyone have the part # for the light bracket kit only - my dealer is trying to sell me the whole package, and all I need are the brackets.

Thanks for your help.

virafp,

Here's the install instructions for the factory setup:

MINI Rally Light Install Instructions

They contain both the top level "kit" part number and all the part numbers of the individual pieces. Your dealer should be able to order any individual part by its number and get it within a couple days; though they may only stock the complete kit. If you continue to have trouble with the dealer, I strongly recommend going to Classic MINI (see the MCO sponsor directory). Classic can get you any OEM MINI parts/accessories, and typically at a substantial discount over what your dealer will charge.

Also, think about using the factory wiring harness, relay, and fuse setup. It will look much more "factory" when installed and shouldn't be too difficult with the above referenced instructions. The factory harness ties in so that the driving lights will only operate with high beams, as they should, since there's no appropriate time for driving lights that is not also appropriate for the high beams. Additionally this lets you turn on the high beams and driving lights and flick them on and off with the steering column stalk to accomodate oncoming traffic. The factory setup really is nice with the exception of the actual lamps; so you've started off right with PIAAs.

Good luck,

James
