Interior/Exterior R56 roof bike rack - not fork installation
R56 roof bike rack - not fork installation
I just ordered a 07 MCS, and am curious about the dealer installed bike rack. Has anyone recieved the dealer installed roof bike rack with the attachment for two wheel bike carry (ie not a fork mounted rack that requires you to remove the front wheel)? Are you using it with a road bike? Are you pleased with how it secures the bike?
The information from the dealer is a little vague as to how it either secures the top tube or front wheel. I'm a little curious as to how it loads a road bike vs mountain bike.

i think that you are referring to the 'Touring Cycle Holder.' if i am correct this is the same one that is sold as a BMW accessory for ther own cars. i have seen it in person and i think that it is NOT sturdy. the straps to secure the wheels are made of fabric and you have to 'tie' it like a buckle strap. i would not trust my 5K carbon MTB on it.
this is what i would do. still waiting for my car!!!.
buy and install the MINI roof rack yourself. purchase a thule/yakima bike tray. you will need to do somehomework on what tray will work with the MINI roof rack. let us know what you decide. if you do a search, there are other treads on this topic of 'roof racks.'
