The rotor was stucked in the stator

I open the motor that I replaced to test it and make sure it had a problem, I couldn't move the rotor when I opened it I got a surprise

Playing around with old wiper motor

Even though the rotor was stucked in the stator, after I removed it clean and put it back, the motor is still work, but to be honest the winding of motor is still not bad, balancing is still not good. The motor is still working but I don't feel confident that is going to be working for long, but I am at least doing some experiment with it.

when I have everything working I will post a video.

no good

Hi, I am new to the forum. Just got a mini for my little girl today and the wipers are not working. I tried the ground trick...no joy. Swapped the relays around...no joy. power to the fuse and the fuse are good. The rear wiper is working. What else should I try? I will be pulling the motor to check it internally tomorrow. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the wiper system?

OK, I pulled the motor and cleaned the contacts, moved them out to ensure good contact, but still no joy. I am going to verify that I have power to the connector. If I do, I am going to order a new motor. Any assistance is this would be nice if you guys have the time.

Got the new motor in today. Did not fix the wipers not working. I was finally able to find a schematic for a 2006 and checked the wiring again. Turns out that one of the blades on the relay panel wouldn't touch the plug in the panel... a little turn of the blade on the relay and the wipers work like a champ.

I was not totally excited about the non response to any of my post in this forum. I really wish that I would have received a better welcome.

I agree with the grounding being bad. I have a 2002 r50,and last week the wiper motor stopped working. last night I went to remove it, and just check it out. put it back in. and it works just fine.... No issues so far...

Exclamation Mini Cooper Windshield Wiper Replacement

I just wanted to thank John Coop #24 in this thread for his advice about testing the ground first. I tried it and the motor is fine, I just need to ground the motor better. I have always had trouble with the electrical on my 2002 Mini Cooper S and now I think it is a grounding problem for many of those problems.

John you not only saved me money, but a lot of time and effort. I would advise everyone to ground the motor before you begin the extra work. Worked for me.

Wiper Fuse Blown - Would grounding (and new fuse) fix?

My R52 (2006 S Convertible) keeps blowing wiper fuses. If I replace the fuse, the wiper works for a few moments and then the fuse blows again.

Would the grounding fix described earlier in this thread help with this issue, or is the motor truly hosed, but just doesn't know it yet?

Thanks,
John

I tried the ground wire issue after checking the fuses and wiring. Before I decided to buy a wiper motor I researched the internet and found the link have attached. I dissassembled my wiper motor and found that the grease was keeing the contacts off of the plate. A quick cleanup fixed the problem.

This is IMPORTANT as it will not work if you turn the wipers on and then hold a wire to the wiper bolt and ground. To test this you should have two people if you don't want to fashion the ground and install it before you test. One is inside and turns on the wiper once the other is holding the wire. If it jumps at all, you are good to install the strap.

As everyone has said, save your money as your motor is likely not bad. Artoo is a 2003 with over 170,000 miles. And it sprung back to life once the ground strap was in place.

I can't say enough how helpful this community has been over the years. Thanks to everyone.
