Drivetrain Hub nuts

Hub nuts
I am trying to remove the hub nuts from my 2007 mini cooper S. I am using a 1/2 ' drive 32mm socket and a 24" Johnson bar but can not loosen the nuts. Is there a trick to this or are there better tools for the job.
