Grill Nuts = No Nuts?

I just got and installed a JCW Style grill set from Outmotoring.com. Looks awesome, and combined with my new matte black side scuttles, my MINI is really looking rather nice. The BRG and black has a certain amount of subtly, but a nice pop of color in the sunlight.

But I digress.... Those chintzy metal nuts that were included are just ridiculous. I considered clipping some bolt heads off and epoxying the bolt shaft in place of the plastic posts and using real nuts. Anyone have these come loose at highway speeds over time? Curious. I can't see the included solution working too well over time.

Also installed a Euro armrest. Outmotoring is the best and even included some freebies for me!

Don't. It's designed well and my factory aero kit is still together and rattle free since '06. Epoxying metal screw threads in place of the stock setup is doomed to failure.

Are they like the original chintzy OEM nuts you took off? Never heard of anybody having any issues with those (and they go back to 2002).

Yeah, similar, but maybe a little more flimsy. It will probably be fine.

When you removed the original grille if you compared what out motoring supplied with the kit is exactly the same.

Have had mine on for a few mos..no issues

Don't try to modify. I did think to myself..why didn't they try to improve the mounting system when they designed this..but oh well.

If you really wanted to try something..I guess you could find a very small stud to screw threw the front and then patch and fill the holes from the front but I doubt it's worth the time.

Those chintzy nuts are just like the OEM. You have to put them on at a slight angle and they thread themselves on. They will not come off.
