Electrical; How To; Lamin-X Yellow R56 Driving Lights Install

Heres a step by step "How To" on installing Lamin-X Yellow film on R56 Driving Lights .
Step one
Remove the two 4mm screws that hold the light to the mount
Step two
flip the light over, and remove the little torx T-10 screw in the back.

Step three , pull the light apart, you will find a ground wire and clip held on to the light by a T10 tamperproof screw!

Step three ,Get that screw out! Then to the work bench
Step four, remove the chrome( or black) ring by carefully prying the little edges ;don't worry about the wide one leave it and pivot the light out of the ring.

Step five, Remove the seal from around the light, mine was new and came off easy, set off to the side you will reuse if you got if off nicely!

Step six, read the instructions!

Step seven,I cut a pc of yellow , you can order the stuff precut but with my R53, I found there isn't much extra so I bought a sheet of yellow. They send a cute little spray bottle with the film , fill it with distilled water. The light has to be as clean as possible. Remove the yellow film backing paper and lightly spray the adhesive side with water. Read the Lamin-X instructions for more detail. Lay the pc of yellow film on the lens it should touch the middle first. In that area push down with fingers then start working to the outside around and around.(sorry about the blurry pic)

Keep smoothing the front out until you arrived at the edge, now you will need a heat source like a hair dryer ,to soften the film so it can form around the edge.

Step whatever ,I lost count.
I used a modified body putty applier to get the edges down along with the mentioned heat.

Once you got the edge worked down, trim the excess, replace the seal and chrome ring.

step number I forgot, Take that little tamperproof screw and knock out the little pin in the inside.(unless you have the proper tool of course)

just reverse the process to reinstall.

Thanks for the input! I suspected that might be the case with that conversion. I have a set of OEM driving lamps and considered doing that mod, but not now. I will just add Hella FOGs to the OEM brackets and rewire to operate on low beams.

Thanks again.
