To reset the service interval indicator:

push trip button

turn ignition key to position 1 and 15A will appear to left of mileage

release trip button

wait 3 seconds

push trip button

wait (5 - 8 seconds) for RST to appear in left corner

release trip button

push trip button

15000 [or kilometer equivalent] will appear as new service interval

release trip button

The miles [or kilometers] until next service will now count down from the reset interval.

To enter the service Menu:
Insert Key (Do not press clutch / brake)

Press Start button

Wait until the Car / relevant Service symbol disappears on the Rev counter display. Immediately after the symbol goes out - Press and hold Both buttons on the Rev Counter

Continue to hold - the system Will run a dash light check.

Continue to hold.

Display will then show VIN / Menu,

Continue to hold through this until the time Reappears on the display. Now release Only the Right hand Button (trip reset) for about a second, and then press and hold again (whilst still holding the LH button)

After another second of 2 the display will show the Front Brake Symbol You Are Now in the Service Menu.Use the BC Button (on indicator stalk) to scroll through to the relevant symbol - eg Rear Brakes To Reset the warning indicator light - Press & Hold the BC Button at the relevant symbol until RESET appears - then press and hold again until the process is complete.Turn Off and On the Ignition again - Warning should now have gone.

You can use it for oil changes and any other service reminder. Also the r53 is substantually easier.

Yellow,
Nice. Do I follow the instructions above (The one with out the pictures) or do I have to follow other instructions? If not, can you provide me the info? How can I scroll through the other service reminders and what else reminders are there? Thanks!

How about an '04 MCS? I have tried the following and it just goes to a test mode, so either I have the wrong procedure or I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

Press and hold the trip odometer button.
Insert car key and turn it to the first position.
Watch for the word "RESET" to appear on the Odometer indicator.
Release the trip odometer button, then press & hold it again.
Wait for the "RESET" message to flash.
Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
The Service interval is now reset to 10,000 miles

Oil Service Re-set

Hi .... new to this forum. I have a 05 Cooper S Cabrio. Just changed the oil myself for the first time. I cannot seem to get the oil interval to reset. Can someone give me a step by step on "how to" ?

Thanks

If you have an '05, the steps in post #2 should work for you. The timing can be a little bit finicky/temperamental, so you might have to try it a few times.
