Mini Rentals in California
We went to Budget, which had Minis last time I was in L.A. (for the astounding price of $100 per day) and discovered this guy has three franchise locations: West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Marina del Rey, and he's the only Budget franchisee who has Minis.
He now has MCSs for an even more astounding price of $129 a day
, the same price as a BMW 325, Mercedes or Lexus!
He has 20 MCs and MCSs and says he paid the Nick Alexander price for them, $5,000 over list.
I'm driving a BMW 325 from an independent rental car company--way under half the price of Budget's, and it's like driving Sadie's dad. Cool car.

>>I guess that isn't practical but maybe Louie and Sadie can exchange email pictures now and then.

They both realize the budding romance is geographically unsuitable, but through the magic of Paint Shot Pro, we hope to unite them in photography, anyway.
Not True- There is always hope.
I know several friends that had long distance relationships through college that lasted and are still doing well today some 24 years later and I had one as well that lasted being apart for almost 4 years then got married and next January we will celebrate our 24th anniversary- Maybe we will buy a 2004 Cooper CVT to celebrate!
Not sure if that will fly- she sort of is partial to camrys
Oh well. Dream on.
Anyway- there is hope for Sadie and Louie- Maybe it will take the wizardry of Paint shop Pro or Photoshop to do it right. Never can tell. Maybe Sadie will go on a road trip. Maybe Sadie can send a "stand in" to take a pic next to Louie.

We do have several MINIs in our club that resemble Sadie-now that's an idea.Got to get favorite son working on that pic of Diamondhead. I'm still jet-lagging. Would like to retire to Hawaii but that's still several years away-at least for me it is.
Happy Motoring Hawaii friends,

Well, I'll be giving Budget my business. Paramount announced (on MINI2) then the news finally filtered over here to MCO (SoCal forum), that they're having a huge premiere of The Italian Job on the studio lot May 20. Outdoors. Drive-In.
I figure they're gonna project the film on the old cyclorama and park 300 Mini drivers in the old tank they used to use for miniature sea battles (It's only 3-4 ft. deep and has sloping sides).
They are not allowing cameras, which is a shame. I know they don't want people to photograph the film, but I can't imagine every driver there won't want photos of all those Minis. There will be food, and they are asking for roof color when you make reservations, so we can assume they're gonna take some sort of aerial photo with the Minis spelling something (TIJ?) or in some movie-related formation (the Paramount mountain, maybe?). They said they don't want Minis with sunroofs, so they may have some staic cling thingy they'll be putting on the cars.
So watch the news on the night of the 20th or the morning of the 21st, as we all may be on TV. Missed the IJ Minis on the Today show this morning. Leno was hosting, so maybe he'll have them on the Tonight show tonight.
So I won't be home now until the 21st, but will hopefully have goodies for everyone, and ideas for things we can do for our own IJ gathering.
