2006 - Off to a "Bangup" start... Literally!
2006 - Off to a "Bangup" start... Literally!
Last week, I had my wheels powder coated to match the car and was planning to post pictures for all of you to check out.
Well..... This evening, Jan 1, a good friend of mine had some trouble backing out of her garage. The trouble was that my Cooper was in her way.
Now I know just how sickening the feeling of having a new (October) car crunched is and, I'll now learn how much it costs for body work on a MINI.
I am depressed.
Attached are pictures I took....
ps. I will post pics of the wheels when the car is repaired.

I'm Looking for advice on Body Shops in Hawaii (Oahu)
Since the dealer does not have a body shop; and my MINI certainly needs one; I'm looking for referrals (and /or warnings) for shops that will do a first class repair job.
Anyone with any experience?

YIKES! speaking from a guy who had his MCS twice in 05 in the shop...i feel for you. i had mine done at el's (oahu) but they do take a long time. but they also do a good paint job. btw, if your using your insurance, maybe you should just replace the hood...it's cleaner that way and i hate to say this, it might come out cheaper and better then trying to body work it... good luck!
ouch!
--sorry to hear about your MINI Feedback.
It looks like only the bonnet was hurt tho. I'm not sure if you would want to have it pounded back into shape and repainted because it might be cheaper to buy a new bonnet, or a used one off of another wrecked Mini. I have a name and number of a really good shop. I've used him a number of times in the past (ex-girlfriends cars) and he does really good work. I'll be in at work tomorrow and I'll probably be able to find it. It was run by the Mateo family. If they're still involved you'll get first class work done on your car.
Cheer up we'll. help you make your MINI shiny again. The wheels already look great! Just one more thing.

One of the car mags dented their hood on the track and found the very complex hood stamping was surprisingly inexpensive: $268 wholesale, $300 retail for genuine OEM
Or a little bit more for an upgrade: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/interior-exterior/26344-m7-carbon-fiber-hood-available.html
Good luck!

sorry about your mini.
european autotech off lagoon drive may be one possibility. i believe bmw refers to them. and i've had my trim painted by them.
btw, i drive down the windward side every t/th to kahuku ~mid-morning. and i remember seeing a mini turn off kam hwy somewhere in kaaawa area. anyways i got the brg/w with white minilites and bonnet stripes and roof racks. that drive is a blast every time i drive it, which is one reason why i decided to work in kahuku despite the 90 mile round trip for me. very peaceful, yet exhilirating at the same time.

Thanks for the referral.
Yes, I saw your car the other day passing through greater metropolitan Ka'a'awa. Its not suprising that you saw a MINI here, after all, we are a two cooper town!

Aloha brother! Man-oh-man, major ouch! I feel for you! Hey, good opportunity for a carbon fiber hood!
My friend Nelson has a body shop on Queen Street called Auto Fender Clinic. He has done Bimmers and I belive a Porsche or two.
Speaking of Porsches I was involved in motor vehicle collision two days ago in my work van. I got rear ended by a tow truck and the impact slammed my van into the rear of the nicest Buick Roadmaster station wagon I have seen on Island. The owner is the service manager for Porsche Hawai'i.
I thank the lord above that I wasn't in my MINI when I got nailed!
Uh, by the way, where did you go for your powder coating? I was thinking of having my S-Lites done.
Aloha and good luck with WINO!

darn it!
--sorry Feedback, I finally found that number on Friday and called the shop only to find the number was disconnected. I asked around and I was told that Capone's is one of the best shops on the island. Here is a link to their contact info:

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
