iPod adaptor questions

hey guys i have some questions about the adaptor. please keep in mind that this was a DYI job and i have a G3 ipod...so i'm wondering if these functions or behaviors are showing up on the dealer install ones.

1. when i have the ipod disconnected, i choose lets say an artist green day out side the playlist named MINI 1through 5...i jack my ipod into the HU, it auto selects green day as my preset list and plays it. but i can still get out of it by hitting any of the 1 throught 6 buttons on the HU.

2. when my ipod is jacked in, i see the MINI name on the top but on the buttom, it show that i can remove it (i thought it should have said do not disconnect like as if it was connected to my G5 mac).

3. when i turn the MCS off, and already powered down my HU, it seems that my ipod is still connected to the HU as if the car was or HU was on. should it give me the bar menu screen once the car and HU is shut off ( i.e. like when you unmount the ipod from the computer and the stop do not remove icon turns returns to the nav menu?

any help would be great. other then these strange unkowns, the adpator works like a charm!

thanks in advance...

louis

1.Normal
2.Yes, because the car is not interfacing with the iPod like the Mac is.
3.No the "MINI" screen remains until the iPod goes to sleep.

Yea....I ran across that problem on the first iPod install (4,now).
The color code for the PDF file didn't match the adapter but I just matched their color description of the wires to the required pin location.

I still triple check to make sure all the wires are in the correct pin location to make sure I don't release the magic smoke that is found in all electrical wiring.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't have any ipod yet, but I saw the video, so I'm holding out for that one
