Keikilee,

Hafid is calling me tonight. He is about to arrive at the airport. Kyle is on his flight. I talked to hafid briefly today. He works tomorrow and is off about 430 or 5pm. Wanna go out to eat or drive? Call me tonight. I sent you PM.

just got back home. and unfortunately, i forgot all about hafid being on my plane back home.

the trip back was simply so tiring, especially after a full day of a tough exam followed by a full night of celebrating down on 4th and 6th streets in downtown austin, followed by a 3 hour sleep, followed by a 7 am-1pm wait at austin airport due to car rental return, followed by another 2-3 hour wait at lax, and a total of 9-10 hours of flying.

i do hope to meet up with you folks sometime and meet hafid. maybe he'll remember me at lax, as being the guy who was kinda zoning out.

I know the feeling! I'm beat. Forgot you were on the plane until into the flight and couldn't remember where you were sitting. I've got lots of good jet lag from flying and being in Vegas all weekend and Detroit last week.

Hope to meet you all this week!

"Good jet lag"???
Is there such a thing?

OK, I'm meeting with Hafid Monday after he finishes work.
Maybe some sushi then off to check out some sites for photo work.
Might be nice to get together some nice clean MINIs for a photo shoot for sundown or night photos. He brought his camera and tripod!
We only have until Friday as he leaves Saturday morning.
Kohu is interested as is Keikilee, anyone else? Please post here.

bellybean329,
Lucky you. Post some pictures if you get a chance. I told Hafid to take his camera and get out to the north or west shores tomorrow. It's pretty wet right now with all the rain and yucky traffic.

For those that missed the big waves in the past check out this old gallery-

From today this article mentions some rescues-

My 2nd job! Er, third job.

Oh yeah, after my day job-
I also have a non paying side job of working on MINIs and
another non paying side job as tour guide.

Glad you got the map today- I marked it all up with our many stops.

Hafid gets to enjoy today and tomorrow then we are planning a possible photo shoot on thursday or friday after 6pm, exact location in town to be determined by the fickle weather- too much wet stuff just rolled in.

Notice how nice the weather was from the top of Tantalus/Round top in the picture above? That was taken at almost 7pm last night when the park was already closed at 645pm. Some "MINIacs" stole their way into the closed park but got discovered by security. Hey I wasn't driving or dodging the many giant potholes.

Anyway we got some splendid ideas for photos. For the photos we only need about 5 MINIs to serve as "models" but if you are interested and want to come visit with us just let me know. Keikilee can be the other contact person. We will let our photographer pick the "models" if we have more than enough MINIs.

If we get totally rained out on thursday we have friday night to redeem ourselves and can do at least a little social gathering if nothing else.

Hafid has not test driven a cabrio yet. Lets dial up some decent weather before he goes and get him out to Ala Moana Park. Hey, last night when we were going to magic island in the park we had to stop to let an outrigger canoe cross the street in the dark. I told Hafid it was a "canoe crossing", and that we don't have train or deer crossings here.

Took a lovely drive around the island today. The H3 out to the 83 all the way around to the 99 and back on home. It's time for dinner!

I'm going to go to this place based on a recommendation: www.zaffronhawaii.com anyone tried it?

Tomorrow: let's meet up at the tunnel entrance to Diamond Head at 5:30pm and we'll make that the first spot for pics. If - and only if - there's minimal traffic, I'd love to get a shot of a mini in that tunnel! Otherwise, there's a gorgeous background facing the coastline.

We'll trot off to dinner from there and then head over to two other locations for a couple of night shots if they work out....and if time permits, maybe one other location.

Who's in?

I could use 4 minis at least.....but if more come along, we'll work out some things! Looking forward to meeting you!

I won't make it for dinner, but where will you be doing the nite shots? I'd like to take some pics too, if you wouldn't mind.

hafid,

Thanks very much for playing tourist. Many thanks to those that braved the lousy traffic to come out tonight. We lucked out with some decently dry weather despite a few close call clouds over at Diamond Head.

And best of all we get to sleep tonight in our own beds and not on some hard narrow jail bed... But that is another story.

Keikilee,
Nice seeing you. And Kohu did show up in time for the food at Diamond Head Market and Grill - Yum yum. And Kbseto did find something sweet... Pumpkin Crunch! More yum yum. You only live once.

Wow! My MINI feels very special.
Never been a photo "model" before.

It was a beautiful evening for the photo shoot with some very interesting locations.
Kudos to hafid ......some impressive camera techniques.
ALOHA to hafid if I don't see you before you leave
