I'm tryin' to figure out how many Classic Minis are on the island... help me fill in the blanks if you know of any please!

Andy K
•1964 Austin Mini Cooper S. 1071cc "S", Almond Green with an Old English White roof.
•1966 Austin Mini Cooper S. 1275cc "S", Red with a white roof. Should be Tartan Red / black according to the herigate certificate. I plan on fixing that
•1971 (British Leyland?) Mini. 998cc, Red with white bonnet stripes and a Union Jack roof.

Barry L
•1973(?) Innocenti Mini. 1275cc, (Can't remember the exact name of the color) Blueish-grey with what looks like an Old English White roof.

"Rick"
•(year unknown) Moke, 1380cc. Bright Yellow. Lives in Kaneohe somewhere.
•1967 (Austin/Morris?) Cooper S, engine size unknown. Color unknown.

Ken T
•Late model(?) Rover style Mini. 1275cc. Red with white roof. Sportspack style arches and wheels.

Somebody on Kapahulu
(saw this one briefly one day!)
•MK III Mini - dark blue with white bonnet stripes and a white roof.

Baron / Byron? - down at Auto Grooming Hawaii in Kalihi.
• Mini Pickup - undergoing restoration.
• 1967(?) Cooper S - at his father's shop down the road.
• Yellow Moke - I believe he sold this Moke to "Rick", but I haven't met with him yet.

Unknown
•MKIII (?) Mini. Orange, with "Zeemax" bodykit and diamond-plate interior. Only saw it once at MINI of Hawaii, but from what I recall, the guy and his fiance live over in Waimanalo.

Philip M
•Late model (Rover) Mini, 1380cc. Dark green metallic with white bonnet stripes and a white roof. Haven't talked to Philip since last year's Brit car show, so I can only guess if this car is still around.

So far that's 12 that I know of. There have got to be more on O'ahu - and a few that are rumored to be on the other islands. One of the folks over on Minimania said a while ago that he remembered that there was a company in Hawaii (he couldn't remember which island) that used Mokes as rental vehicles...so there are probably a few of 'em out here if they haven't rusted into the ground.

I would really, really, really like to get the classic Mini folks out of the shadows. We've got some decent roads to drive on out here and a monthly autocross...time to show these people what the little giant slayer can do!

Don't forget - the annual British Car show is coming up this weeekend (May 16). If I can get enough work done today and tomorrow I'll be bringing the '66 S and the '71 out to play.

(edit) - sheesh...I keep remembering more cars!

-Andy

Aloha stranger! You can add 2 more classics to that list. There is a light/bright metallic green Mini with JC stripes somewhere around the McCully area. Ghui's daughter has a friend with a blue Mini with S Stripes. I believe Philip either changed his wheels, repainted them or they are VERY dirty. The orange Mini was sold and I haven't seen it since.

British Car day is great for having classic minis-
please pass along the word as best you can.
Hope to see you there.

I do also see a bright kermit green mini with white stripes heading out to redhill from town. I don't think you counted that one.

i see the orange mini pretty often -- a friend of a friend bought it!!

on tuesday, i saw a green mini with huge (very wide) white bonnet stripes and white roof. young asian male was driving.

i recently met an older gentleman who owns TWO austin mini cooper s'!!! apparently, he used to drag race them back in the day. they're both sitting in his garage now. i encouraged him to get one running so he can cruise around

Sweet...Oh yeah - one more. A '62 Cooper up in Manoa that has the HuuuUUuuUUUUuuge "Fortech" wheel arches and 13" "Alleykat" wheels. It's rather over done, but hey - to each his own. Last I heard it wasn't running and the guy wanted like $10,000 for it. (cough).

Not going to make it to the show on Sunday. I'm having some difficulty with both of my running Minis, and I found out I have to work. Blech.

Hey,

I'm on the biggest island (AKA the mainland) and I saw one of the best looking classic tonight that I have ever seen. It was westbound on Highway 8 towards San Diego (which would also make it towards you guys/gals). It was dark enough that I could not tell the color but it was a dark color. GREAT looking Mini. I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!
