>>How did you guys manage the stop lights and getting seperated? Did the lead pack stop, or did they drive a little slower and wait for the pack to catch up? You guys did a good job in keeping 50 cars together!

Generally in the group I was with we went pretty slowly. Most of the time the lead MINI got the red light and stopped so everyone was together more or less. Not much stopping to regroup. Traffic was pretty good, better than usual.
The slower group pace seemed to help quite a bit. If there was another group that got off to a later start then they stayed together and met us at the next rest stop- either Sandy beach or Kuuloa and others met up with us there or at the Waipio park at the end. I thought it did go smoother overall but we did not do any quick runs through curvy areas and we did miss diamond head lookout and Laie point. Maybe next cruise as a treat.

Thanks very much to those (MINI of HI staff from Service/sales) who slaved over hot gas stoves or help serve up the picnic lunch and drinks for all us tired and hungry motorers.

And now for some pictures. All taken at stoplights or while at rest stops.

Wow what a great turn out! Must've been an awesome and exciting time. Too bad many of us were left out.

wow, ~ 50 mini's! i wished i had seen that line of mini's drive past. or to even see 1/2 a parking lot filled with mini's. i gotta ask my friends and co-workers if they saw the caravan. if so they were probably looking for me.

i really, really wished i had been there. but i had a pretty good excuse. well, 2 really. i'll be at the next gathering though. as long as i'm on the island i'll be there.

and if i was there i woulda been on the prowl for some white x-lites...

a friend of mine who went on a bike cruise today saw the MINIs coming from haleiwa -- he asked me if i was part of the group. i said, nope, lots of us weren't invited. he asked why? i said i'm not sure but mini-pooper.com might explain some of it. nevertheless, there are lots of others who weren't invited and no one is sure why --- i'm guessing that darrel chose who was worthy of being invited?

Go for it. I think interest is up.

How about any MINI activities?
Maybe have an autocross for RC MINIs with little orange cones with an out and back course for time. Maybe do three runs with no practice. Two classes, 8" and under car length and over 8" or something like that and have prizes.

How about a MINI toss.
Get a bunch of raw eggs.
Draw your MINI on it with a marker pen.
Find a partner willing to sacrifice his/her body for you.
Toss away for the glory of being the 2004 "MINI toss champ"

Well, considering the dissatisfaction some people have with our dealer, they may save the eggs for a target on Kapiolani Blvd.

Great pictures! I don't know if it is me or my computer, but some of them seem a little blurry. It could also be because it is very early in the morning.

Well if you must toss something and a MINI is involved how about this?

If we have the keyhole area and clear out the RC mini race course then we will have some space for the next event.
Have a MINI brave enough to drive in a straight course in first gear for about 75 feet.
While this is going on have 5 people (standing 30 feet away for females or kids and 50 feet away for males) armed with water balloons about the size of their fist (with a MINI picture painted on it of course) try to throw their balloons to strike the moving MINI. If you hit any part of the MINI you get to go on to the next round. Have a bunch of rounds with the MINI going a little faster. Prize for the winner.

Hopefully balloons that size thrown at that distance won't cause major damage to the MINI. If it gets too easy the contestants can stand back by 10 feet.

uh....no. Sorry folks, we're not doing anything that requires tons of clean up. Can you imagine all of the little slivers of ballons on the street or in the grass that we'll need to clean up after when the picnic is done!

Are all types of beverages allowed at Ala Moana? If not, I'll have to look for those static cling covers for my cans. Unfortunately, bottles can't pass for anything but, bottles.

How about if we use rubber gloves filled with water? They don't shred as much.
Or how about "rubbers"? Okay, mini rubbers? Shootem with sling shots at mini RC cars blazing by at 20 mph.

OK, how about this one. No rubbish.
Form groups of 6 or 7.
One is driver, one is passenger in the MINI armed with a 12" net.
The other four have one small nerf football each and stand forty feet or so to the side of the MINI.
The MINI must drive at 4-5 mph in a straight line without stopping while the footballs are thrown one after another while the passenger catches them in the net and hauls them into the MINI.
We could use arrows but we would have to search for them in the grass or pluck them out of our runflats at the end of the day.

You should have came. I did not get any email invite. I only found out about it when I went to the car show last week-Justin told me about it. Even if I see a bunch of minis cruising down the road I would jump in.

Hmmm. Interesting idea.

How about this. Split into teams of 5.
One driver, one passenger, and three soaker gunners per team.
Line up all soaker shooters on one side the left and the other shooters on the right.
Have the two teams weave their MINIs down the middle "slalom style" at 5 mph or slower.
The shooters have to hit the other team's car but...
All shooters wear blindfolds and have to go by the exhaust note of their opponents car.

So how do we tell who did better?
We place two bullseyes out of white paper on each door 3 feet wide. And use red colored water for one team and blue for the other. Roll your windows up please and stand back.

If we were doing this at night we'd hook up my laser tag targets and go at it.

Here's another idea.
Make jello shaped like a MINI and have a jello fight.
Then rinse off at the beach. Jello is elible if it gets in your mouth and biodegradeable if it falls to the ground.
Just don't eat the stuff that fell to the ground.

Ok, he's a variation on that one. Do a MINI shaped jello toss with partners.
Make up teams of two. The goal is to throw small MINI shaped jello at each other and catch it in your mouth.
Try not to choke on it. When in doubt just swallow. It's ok.
Ooops, that hurt going down.
