MINI of HAWAII -- fishy business.
last week, while driving, my DSC and tire lights lit up yellow simultaneously. the manual says that when this happens, go to the dealer & get it checked out. turns out that the "shop foreman had diagnosed the problem as the steering angle sensor internally faulty" and the sop required some parts to be ordered.
the parts came in and i took my mps in today to have it repaired. my car was in and out within a few hours. as the service advisor put my paperwork together, i noticed "PRIORITY" stamped on my papers. 1 point for MINI of Hawaii as a sense of urgency is good considering my out of service days are climbing.
then i get my copy of the invoice which reads "NOTE: Vehicle equipped with after market suspension which will affect alignment angles." way to go MINI, you're covering yourselves....but, why would aftermarket suspension cause a faulty steering angle sensor that was "internally faulty?" the problem wasn't caused by my lowering springs. Second half: minus 1 point from MINI.
and then there is something unusual in the comments section of the invoice, "See Al Roberts," who is the dealership service manager. so are these secretive comments for me? for the service advisors? mechanics? maybe my file is flagged with "see Al first before you touch this car."
it just seems a little fishy to me.

while at the dealership this week, i asked one of the service advisors for a printout of the comments from al but he said there are none. that was something that was typed it at the time of the appt and there isn't anything attached to it. so, i gather that some things are in the "official" records while other info is "offline."
whatever the case, i don't like it.
