update on clutch

I picked up my car yesterday and everything seems to be good. I was so happy to get it back I haven't had a chance to post anything. My clutch is working great and seems to be smoother. The clutch, flywheel, and throwout bearing were replaced. I was told that this was a one time customer courtesy clutch replace, and it was not a normal warranty fix. They claimed that the problem was caused by driving habits, but I don't believe them. I am not sure about the entire history of the car. I just purchased my used 2003 MCS in November 2005 (with 13800 miles) and have put on a little over a thousand miles (car has 15440 miles now). Well anyway I am happy that my clutch has been replaced and hopes it continues to work without problems.

I just had another very positive experience this week with Danny Jovanovic the shop foreman - He listens, is straight talker & gives no BS. He made things right. I've been vocal on NAM about many issues i've had with BMW/MINI of HI service in last 3 yrs but i've had fabulous service since Danny arrived. Few months back he also was very helpful in working with me on a throwout bearing/clutch issue-

Called MINI with ABS, DSC & Tire light on, brought it in that am with no appt- Got call from night crew --needs steering sensor which is covered under warranty, but needs new wheel sensor at $325 - wire is cut from rubbing on crank pulley- not covered by warranty cause of my aftermarket pulley. Told SA I expected everything under warranty as aftermarket pulley has no bearing on this.

Called Danny in am, asked him to look at wheel sensor & if he told me aftermarket pulley caused issue i'd pay, if not warranty should cover. Reminded him that they had to drop sub frame to replace clutch few months back and perhaps wire not routed correctly then. Picked up car - only item replaced was wheel sensor under warranty and all lights are out. Danny is a real welcome change at BMW/MINI.

Getting a key replaced.

Aloha, this isn't about servicing the Mini, but the service I got on parts. Unfortunately I don't have exact dates, but here's how my experience went. I went to the parts dept and asked to order a new valet key. No prob, took a look at my drivers liscence, registration and then took my credit card and I think it was about $60. The rep took my ph # and said he'd call when it came in, probably middle of the next week. Easy nuf being that it was later in the week already. Got the call while I was out to sea that it was ready so I went down to get the key that day. Well, I got it no prob since I already paid, but it wouldn't open my car door!! I compared the valet key to my regular key and they were wayy different! I took it back in and explained what was going on and he apologised and said that he'd send it back and re order mine. He also said that I wasn't the first person to get a key that didn't work lately. Took another look at the registration to verify VIN#. Same deal, said he'd call and it'd be about a week. A week went by and I hadn't heard anything, so I called. They said oh yeah, its here, you can come get it. Great. I got there and got my key that worked! The rep (who had to be paged) said that he was sorry for mistyping the VIN number and hoped I'd be satisfied!! All was good though, just added an extra trip downtown and about another week of not having my key. Just make sure they double and triple check the VIN# if you have to order a replacement key!!! I am pleased that I can take my car key diving with me again!

Just had my 06 hit the 10K mark and did the 10k service on it...also had two complaints.. 1 was the transmission was often making a clicking noise when in neutral..this mainly happened when the car was hot and the clutch was out... would go away when the clutch was pushed in... also the clutch would squel when cold. Issue 2 was a bump in the passenger seat...

The Tech, John, immediately recogonized the ticking and related it to mini sim21 01 05, which calls for a flywheel replacement. He also did the clutch due to uneven wear. Is as good as new... nice... good grip, no noises... can't even hear the transmission anymore...

Issue 2 is a known issue with the airbag sensor for the passenger side.. seems the sensor pad is raised up which causes a viewable lump in the passenger seat. Said it was common and offered to replace the seat, but didn't think it would help... I opted to keep my orginal seat.

I drop the car off Thursday at 8am and had it back at 4:30 that same day... even with them having to drop the tranny...

Excellent work on this one!

Went in today to investigate some 'Herby' issues...such as windows coming down the 1/2" both side when opening the driver's door but not going back up (happened a few times), windows being down about 4" but doors still locked and alarm on when coming out of a building (happened a few times) and my brake light staying on after turning off the car and getting out (once). MoH, John the mechanic investigated, cleared all old faults and reset the windows. Said this would help Moh pull faults if it happened again. And if it does keep happening, to bring it back so the can recheck for faults and send in a PUMA.

Also, had the Dinan Boost Upgrade and Stage 5 software installed. Cost: Parts + 6.5hr labor. Going WOT is crazy now...The stage 5 software really make the car run smoother.. can't tell it is even on at stoplights...plus hearing the Dinan intake pull air in, along with the louder SC whine..sounds like a darn plane taking off... a 15pulley is really a must-have...Will 'test' it more this weekend....

I give the Moh crew another thumbs up! Andrew the SA for taking care of business and being spot-on, John the mechanic for his persistence on the 'Herby' & timely Dinan install and John the parts guy for acting fast on the Dinan parts & my new badge holder!

Took my car in on the 21st of December due to a constant horrible screaching noise coming from the fuel tank area and fuel smell from the boot. Ended up being a faulty Dinan Fuel Filter after extensive troubleshooting and trial/error to pin down the noise... Got my car back last night (Jan 4th).. noise is gone... fuel smell gone... car is good... A Dinan MCS is much quicker that a stock MC loaner..lol
