nobias - A word of warning here. Just be careful about what you say on this forum.

I was once one of the biggest supporters of MINI! However, after chronicling problems here and replying to people's post about their problems, I guess enough was enough for senior management at the dealership. Did you know they made denigrating and slanderous comments about me within the dealership and in front of friends of mine? Of course, they didn't know those were friends of mine when they were making those comments. The dealership GM, Dennis Short, personally called me on my cell phone to tell me how "pissed off" he was at my posts and thought it was irresponsible of me to do so. I was the President of the local BMW CCA chapter and he thought I should not have made such posts as it was inappropriate for me to do so. The posts in question was my link to the Hawaii Lemon Law for mini-t to peruse. I explained that while I was President, I am also an individual consumer. He didn't think that was a suitable answer and also threatened to pull funding for BMWCCH Driving Schools (Spring Fling and Aloha 500). I then reminded him I was no longer President and that would have to be discussed with the new administration. He was also informed of this and said his other senior managers told him not to punish everyone because of the actions of one person. He then reconsidered the funding. However, he did meet for 3 hours with the former president, current president and DEC of our local chapter. The first hour was his haranguing of myself as former president.

FYI. The phone call occurred on the afternoon of January 26, 2004. Statements have been made to my attorney regarding the slanderous remarks made about me and I am currently debating my options on legal action.

I hope this situation does not happen to any of you. You know, the stupid thing is I still back up the dealership on some issues.

Thanks Beast, for your perspective. I don't really want to add fuel to some already incendiary comments.

Just hoping to see an Edward Deming transformation.

But I will take your advice and chill.

I think it was inappropriate for the dealership to behave this way. The Lemon Law is a legal proceeding between the consumer and the automobile manufacturer, not the dealership. The dealership does not loose anything, and they should think twice about reacting negatively toward this issue. There is nothing the dealership gains, except to push the consumer away from the brand or the dealership. Two ignore the fact that there may be lemons out there is naive. No matter how well the car is manufactured, there will be lemons, this is a fact of life. By the dealership being open and discussing the options that the consumer may have, facilitates good will and most likely may convince the consumer to purchase another vehicle from them and to continue service at the dealership. By getting angry with the consumer, the dealership pushes the consumer away from the brand and the dealership. I am currently pursuing a vehicle buy back with BMW and the dealership has been very considerate toward the matter and has helped me greatly. I will continue to do business with the dealership because of this attitude and the dealership will continue to make money. I think that this attitude should hold true for anyone who represents the manufacturer, it can only reflect positively on the automobile.
