i was actually thinking about trying to put a club sticker/logo/something on part of either the top or bottom of the holder -- thought it would look cute! now we just need some small club stickers

Stickers would be awesome! We could print those out on sticker stock paper with our own computers and printers, once we had a design (I think).

If we've got someone who's graphic-arts inclined I've got a few ideas that I'd love to see actually on paper. That's another thing we can talk about at the Sept 14 meeting

hi everyone,

once we decide on a time for the organizer delivery over the weekend, i will try to coordinate a time to p/u the safety check sticker holders as well. most likely, it will be at the saturday midas wahiawa event (depending on how many people go) or from 10 to 10:30 am at mini of hawaii on sunday, 9/7.

I'll try pick it up at MoH on Sunday, but if I can't, I'm willing to go anywhere on the island to pick it up.

update:

my friend has begun production of the "new" safety sticker holders. why "new?" we modified the design b/c i noticed that my license plate was slightly raised on the side with the holder due to the thickness in the sticker plate (when compared to the left side). therefore, to even out the plane, he is lengthening the top portion of the holder to expand to the left side of the license plate --> therefore, it will now screw into the top 2 screws and the lower right screw.

hope this makes sense. i hope to have them done by the weekend so i can deliver everything at the same time. if you would rather have the original design, let me know.

thanks,
mini-t

I would like to have the new design as my license plate is attached only via the top two screws. The bottom two screw holes are flapping around in the tail wash air. It sounds like a good design change. Maybe a tiny bit more weight. Perhaps 5 to 10 grams of metal. Maybe I will drill out my holder. Strength is not that important.

mine is attached the same way. i agree, the design change is good as it will even everything out.

i'm keeping mine the way it is b/c i dont want to purchase another set safety check stickers! i may, however, put another plate on the left side and plaster it with fun stickers!!

Now things are getting interesting!

it's monday, 9/8 and yes, the safety stickers holders are done and in my hand! my apologies about not having them on sunday (they were actually done, we mistakingly didnt see them

anyhow, while making them, it was decided that rather than stretching out only the top portion (where it screws into the black plate) which could unevenly distribute the weight and maybe even cause bending, the entire part that screws into the black plate was extended! it's nice and heavy duty. i will have pics up tonight and you all can let me know if you still want it.

you can meet me for delivery or p/u at this weekend's mini/movie.

aloha,
mini-t

mini-t,
Thanks. I'll wait until this sunday for mine. (I'm paid up).
To save weight I will plan on drilling out the back portion -it will look like swiss cheese back there.
Another idea is to curve the back to maintain stiffness and save weight (cut the edges off and smooth out in a curved shape).

hmm, i'm thinking of ways to hollow out the center a little to save weight b/c we're using heavy duty stainless steel. will get back to you with ideas and photos.

thanks for being patient.

here's a picture of what was made....today's mission is to hollow out the center by cutting out a large circle or square from the middle. will put a picture up afterwards. i hope we get this all ironed out by the M&M

yay! the final design of the holders is done and they are ready to be distributed! i passed out a handful at today's M&M. for those of you who still need to pick yours up, please send an email to minigroupbuys@hotmail.com to arrange p/u time/place or call me.

baronious has kindly donated the 3/4" screws for everyone should you need them. if you keep the MINI of hawaii license plate holder, you will need to use the longer screws -- simply screw the top 2 holes with the 3/4" and use the regular black 1/2" for the bottom. if you decide to switch the holder with the front one, you can use the same 1/2" screws for all 4 holes.

here's a picture of the backside of the finished product:
 i didn't want to put fingerprints on anybody's holder, therefore, i have left the protective film on.
