Rims/tires for my MCS
>>Beastmaster sent you pm.
Nope- no PM yet.
>> minihune- i wouldn't drive on these rims yet till you get the rings. Also did lugs come with yours? They did with mine. I've not compared them to the stock lugs but Randy said not to use the stock lugs with these rims. not sure why though if yours fit?
Too late, been driving around on them all day. Seems to be fine. no problems, unable to reach Randy. No room left on his answering machine.
What rings? there are no rings? What lugs, there are no lugs.
All I got is the wheels. I used the stock lugs and they seem to fit fine. As far as I can tell.
>> Are you going to mini mart? if you going bring one of your rims & i'll do the same. Tried calling Randy in afternoon today-only his msg. Hoping to get him tomorrow but he's probably at track. Send him email, pm, etc.
I think I will go to Mini mart but not till about 12. See if you can reach Randy and you can PM me on MCO if you have a message.
I don't know what part is loose for you. I hold up the wheel and align it with the four holes. I get the stock lugs and put them in each hole and tighten them up. It is the same as in the stock wheel. What is the problem? Seems to be the same as stock to me. Not sure if your wheel is the same as mine. My rim is not 13.8 pounds. My entire wheel is 37 pounds. Tire alone should be 22.5 pounds according to tirerack.com Therefore rim for me is about 14.5 pounds.

minihune- i'm no expert but as i understand it- when you put the s lites to the car they will stay in place without any lugs cause the center of rim fits tight against the center hub on car .
This is not case with centerlines- when you put centerlines on car they won't stay in place cause the center hole in rims are 70.3MM while the hub sticking out from car is 56.1MM- they can move all around up down side to side. The Centerlines will line up with lug holes but they move all around up/down/side to side in getting them to to line up with lug holes. This is due to center of wheel being to larger to to fit against center of hub on car. Put the stock rims to car they line up without any play and all you need to do is rotate rim in direction wheel turns to find the lug holes - there is no other movement. With centerCenterline they move all around.

OK- I get it. If you reach Randy then let him know I have no lugs and no centerring. I think I have the same as you do.
We can see it tomorrow. If the wheel is tight and snug on the hub-not loose-no play, is this OK? I cannot detect anything is bad, no extra sounds, no nothing. I do see negative camber. I figured the height of the new tire is one third inch higher than the stock tire when new. I will be at Mini mart tomorrow at noon.

Minihuni, I'm going to try to be there early may leave for awhile and will try to be back about noon. I'll bring rim with me so we can compare, sounds like yours is same. I've not used mine on car yet, they're so nice in living room!! .
Beastmaster says to be careful using rims w/o centering rings as it can damage them, he seems to know and there are many others looking for the right rings for their rims.
Randy told me his fit perfectly when he got 1st pair and that centerline made the rings to fit the mini. I'll try calling him tomorrow and if i get him let you know. I'm disappointed no one checked to see that rims actually fit before shipping all way here. Three sets sent to HI-- none fit.

NO, IT'S NOT OK! Center bore must fit exactly to hub. This will prevent ANY movement.
Just tightening the lugs will secure the wheel but will not keep it true center...you may damage the wheel!
Also, make sure the MINI lugs will mate with the Centerline lug holes. What I mean is....make sure the chamfer angle of the lug nut is the same angle as the Centerline lug bores. Like a valve seating properly in the head (valve seating)
Same angles.....complete contact ( //\ ): different angles.....less contact ( /| )
If those wheels are not hubcentric, PLEASE, get the rings to make a perfect fit.

We have solved the mystery of the loosey alloy wheels that don't fit.
Every hub has a flat surface to bolt on the wheel but in the center of it is a raised 10mm cylinder which serves as a centering ring. Every wheel has an opening that matching this ring and the opening must fit exactly onto the centering ring- which in the case of the MINI is exactly 56 mm. The opening on my wheel is 72mm which is way too big so today and another MCS owner with my same wheels ordered centering rings to adapt the 72mm opening we have and allow it to fit a 56mm ring on the hub. The sales person at Eurosport says that the original lug bolts are OK to try with the new wheels. So I will have to wait a few weeks until after my trip to get the wheels mounted on my car safely. Thanks for all of the emails and the warnings not to drive without the centering rings.

>>WHEW!!!
Yup- thanks for the advice and concern. It's nice not having serious damage done unexpectedly.
I was going to replace those rotors anyway- as part of the complete part overhaul in progress as we speak.
Looks like some Zimmerman cross drilled rotors front and back, Mintex brake shoes front and rear, Stainless steel brake linings with teflon coating DOT approved, and upgraded brake fluid.
