@ $850 for shipping
That's not bad!

Thanks for the info.

Of course the idea is based on the premise that there are fine motoring roads in Hawaii!

So still a good idea?!

Definitely a good idea! Some nice roads will take to through the mountains on some twisty trails and breathtaking views of the ocean. And if you catch it at the right time, a beautiful sunset!

Aloha from Justin at MINI of Hawaii!!
Over in the Dealer Rating System forum, MoH gets nothing but rave reviews! That is no small feat. I'm liking this idea more and more!

Man, you should take this car to the August car show. We are thinking of having a mini/MINI section there. Latka, you listening. Ruel(Big S on rear window) is asking me and others to join.

Should I get the JCW upgrade? I talked to my salesperson, the things that are done sound like the things that everyone is doing separately and on their own. At least this way, it'll be covered under the warranty. Exhaust, supercharger, pulley, etc. I'm not too technically sharp on this stuff. I can understand things in laymen's terms. Do I get to keep my old parts? I'd probably do it in the fall, maybe September or October.

It is your choice to get the JCW kit. It is only for cooper S models and costs roughly $6000. You do not get to keep all the old parts since some go back to the Cooper works (the cylinder head and supercharger). In Hawaii there are none in stock to install. Some are on order- see Aka at the dealership if interested. Yes the warranty stays intact but the aftermarket parts and installation costs $1000s less but no warranty from the factory is available. Where do you live?

HI-MINI,
There are many MCS that are worthy of going to the car shows. Quite a few have very nice wheels, some have custom audio, many have aerokits and painted wheel arches. The JCW kit MCS is worthy but other than the badges and the exhaust, there isn't that much to see. For that car the custom audio/video is the bomb!

Minihune,

Thanks for your response. I live in Pennsylvania, close to the New Jersey border, so I got my car at Princeton MINI. I do have a MCS. I guess I like the idea of having everything done at once, and having the factory warranty. When I called yesterday, my salesperson said that so far they have 5 people on waiting list, but only 3 were ordered. Those 3 kits were back-ordered. She thinks that in the fall the kits will come a little faster.

In Hawaii we had one kit and it is installed now. About 5 more kits on order but still available to some lucky person. Yes the biggest benefit is the warranty and that the upgrades are coordinated. The price is higher than if you pick and choose what you might like- no warranty is a downer.

Hi everybody!
I just wanted to announce that MINI of Hawaii is installing the second JCW kit on Wednesday, July 23. Two more kits are arriving next week, but they are going to go fast! I have a long list of people who want the next kit. Let me know if you are interested in getting on this list.
Kari

One of the items that comes with the JCW is a larger bored out head, I don't think this is something that everyone else is doing when they do their performance upgrades. This one detail is a substantial difference and shouldn't be overlooked.

Yeah, he will be there for the Aloha 500. So, if anybody is interested in getting the JCW kit, head down there and check it out.

Actually, no. It is a customer's car that I had to give a blood oath not to reveal his/her name. I can tell you this, it is a 6 spd MCS!

Why don't you tell me the color of the MCS to see if you are correct?

Sorry guys! The MCS with the JCW kit being installed on Wednesday is NOT EB! I should have taken bets on this.

The owner even came by the Mini Mart that day!

I guess so. I thought it was bgrpph and he was at the mini mart.
Isn't his MCS EB? Maybe I am color blind.
