Transmission shops

--A friend of mines just bought a brand new transmission and picked up a limited slip differential. I was wondering if everyone could tell me which transmission or speed shop in Hawaii they recommend for installing such a beasty? Please tell me about your experience in dealing with them too.

This is actually for a Toyota Matrix. The tranny and lsd is out of the car. My friend hears horror stories about inexperienced tranny shops installing lsd's that explode like time bombs. So he's afraid to go to the generic shops to have this done.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

mucho arigato!

--Thanks devlynaskurt! B.L.S. also suggested another shop but my buddy caved into pressure and went with that big tranny shop that's on TV all the time. They did a decent job except they forgot to put in the reverse idle screw. Which made it really rough when he was reversing out of a stall.

I think I'd like to check out B.L.S.'s suggestion though. I think I feel the need for a pulley change. An interesting sound has been coming from my engine bay that is very soft. It sounds like "upgrade the ecu..." and "upgrade my airbox.." I think I better do what the voices tell me. =)

If the transmission work is for a MINI in HI some of us have used Motorwerks near Ward and Kapiolani. Gerard works on european cars not Toyotas.
