What traction mode for snow?

In Massachusetts and other parts of the country, the snow is falling. 8 inches of snow fell here yesterday and while driving last night I was using GP Mode. I experimented a little with traction control turned off but did not really come to any conclusions as to which mode worked better.

Driving with winter tires in snowy conditions, what traction mode do GP/MINI drivers think is best, On, GP Mode, Off?

I was wondering the same thing last night driving in that mess. I kept everything on but I felt at times the DSC kicked in when I didn't want it to and made the car not handle as I was expecting.

My plan is to try out the GP Mode next snowfall, which I'm sure won't be too far away!

You should definitely leave it on normal mode for driving. If you need to get unstuck, turn it all the way off and rock back and forth....

my 2012 cms all4 OM says:

Dynamic Traction Control DTC
The concept
DTC is a type of DSC that is propulsion optimized
for special road conditions such as uncleared
snowy roads. The system ensures maximum
propulsion though with restricted driving stability.
You therefore need to drive with suitable
caution.
In the following exceptional situations, it can be
useful to briefly activate DTC:
> When driving on snow-covered inclines, in
slush, or on uncleared snowy roads
> When rocking the vehicle free, driving out of
deep snow or on loose surfaces
> When driving with snow chains
