Widest tires on GP2 wheels?

What's the widest tire we are able to do on the factory wheel? Can you do a 235/40 17 with spacers?

Did some searching but came up empty.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Any wider than 225 and you'll be rubbing your plastic fenders. I'm on 225 R-S3's and my fenders are so worn underneath that I can probably cut cheese with it now. lol

You can make 235s fit if you want. We run a 235/40/17 and there wasn't that much rubbing on the fender liners. "That much" is obviously subjective though. A 235 isn't ideal on the narrower OEM wheel. Street tires don't take kindly to being pinched on a rim. You'll get better feel and possibly more grip by running something like a 215 that is more appropriately sized for the wheel.

Was planning on going to Nitto NT01's after the stockers give up the ghost.

What setup are you running the 235's on?

TC Kline double adjustable with 350lb springs all around. Vorshlag camber plates. -2.5 degrees of camber in the front and around -1.2 in the rear. H-sport rear control arms. NM Engineering RSe05s or whatever they're called. 17x7.5 with 5mm spacers up front. Search my posts to see some pictures of the car in action. Hard to find on my phone.

We're not all that low either. Certainly not as low as some of the other minis around here. Rubs the trailing arm in the rear rarely. Rubs the outer edge of the fender liner in the rear. Rubs outer edge of fender liner in front. Rubs inner wheel well (metal part) in front sometimes. Doesn't rub on the actual arches anywhere. Only rubbed for a little bit though then self-clearances.

The car is set up for auto-x. If I was setting it up for track I would run a touch more rear camber (-2) and lower the rear of the car a little more than we have it currently for better stability.

Wow awesome thanks for sharing!

That sounds very well thought out. I was already thinking of the NM RSe05's so your insight is extremely helpful, especially since I'm planning on autocrossing. Thanks again!

Anyone running more stock-ish suspension with 235's?
