2013 GP Price Question
I was originally tied to my local dealer's first GPII but ended up buying my Porsche while waiting and couldn't rationalize both when the GP arrived. Just last week my local MINI club posted a link to the discounted one in Tennessee, and that got me looking around. jrs66's spreadsheet is a very helpful resource, I can't imagine even the most stuffy dealer will want to keep holding out for MSRP forever.
That said, invoice for MINI's is right at 90% of MSRP so around $36K would be invoice. I think the low 30's mentioned is a daydream unless trunk money comes around, which it might. I'm thinking now of talking to my local dealer that has four of them and letting them know I'm back in the market if the price is right, but be patient.

I still lurk/look and have noticed MSRPs on a couple in the $38s. Alternatively I've found 2 that are very low miles (under 3k) for around $35 asking. I still think I can find one either a new one for close to $35-ish at YE or used w/under 2-3k miles for $30.
If not accurate, I'd love to know!
1). I believe you're likely to be successful offering 37.5 for a GP... if willing to travel.
2). you can likely find one with low miles for 35... if willing to travel
3). You may be able to get one for 35 in Louisville Kentucky... they advertised this price for a bit, but have since raised it
4). Used for 30? haven't seen that.
Bottom line is that GP availability is running low... many areas are out... if my number of 94 is wrong, I'd love to hear. I've been watching as they are sold... I can assure you they are selling... My question is, do they sell more than 500 JCWs per year? I haven't seen it...
Thanks for the info jrs66, I was hoping you'd have updated your spreadsheet. I still think 94 examples of a very niche vehicle is a lot left. MINI is offering a 36 month lease deal on GP's for $449/10K miles per year, $5097 down. That is NOT a good deal.
I think the GPII is the greatest iteration of the R56, just as the original GP was for the R53, but at $40K, its market was automatically smaller than the first one's.
BMW is known for both adding trunk money (i.e. dealer cash incentives) and doing some smokin' subvented leases on its year end and/or slow moving cars. I guess this hasn't trickled down to MINI as much, but I still think it's feasible for there to be $3-4K trunk money added by the end of the year. Although the GPII is very desirable to me, I'm in no hurry, and I'm fickle. The longer I wait the more my eye wanders to other things.

I think you're right. Anecdotally, it looks like only around 600 or so JCW hardtops are sold in the US each year, so the GP is in some ways trying to double that take.
I had two JCW's, an '09 and an '11, loved them both. Both were snapped up by dealership personnel when I went to trade them, never made it to the used car lot.

There are deals out there, and we felt lucky to get it for that in car crazy SoCal

We loved to drive the coupe but nobody wanted to be the passenger

Just not enough room for the passenger to put the seat back all the way and then recline the seat back, the bulkhead gets in the way, the GP solved that problem.

Nice pair of cars, we got rid of our 2013 JCW Coupe to buy the GP, it only had 6,000 miles on it.

It's a different car than a JCW
7.5 in wheels at least 1K
Track tires 7-800 (the Kumhos add a lot on the test drive, but I've driven about 2k miles on summer performance tires similar to my JCW and the balance is still eons better with GP)
Rear Spoiler 2-2.5K (one of the most viewed threads in GP talk)
Aero spoiler/rear diffuser. About 250-300 each end. The car looks badass from the back and it works at track speeds.
Recaro seats (necessary at the track) 2.25k option-there was a JCW that I drove while testing that had them. It was the same 37-38K that I paid. Hard to emphasize how much better they are at speed than JCW seats.
The other two contact points: fat wheel is perfect for the quick steering. Pedals are cutesy and junk for heel-toe shifting. Fixed by rennline set installed this week.
Suspension. Hard to estimate but at least 1k to replicate, probably much more. It's tuned to the car and height adjustable in addition.
Red seat belts, fake bar and shift **** are cool and get you around the track faster
, but seriously my favorite interior addition is the leather dash with the red stitching. The interior is IMHO the best looking in a mini and as nice as a lot of high end cars including BMWs that I've owned. Brakes. 2-3K to add and then you have clearance issues with your wheels. They're also red but actually make a huge difference, again especially on the track or avoiding an accident on the street.
Lightness $? It is lighter as a starting point than any mini and most cars, but not by as much as I would hope. It is my daily driver and I like ac and a decent stereo though.
Limited edition only makes a $ difference in resale and I didn't buy mine to sell it. I'm driving it to work, through the mountains and to the track.
Wow did I ramble. Point is for 37-38k this car has a lot of value for me and I don't think I could find a way to replicate it. Used cayman or M3 you ask? Not minis. They're not go-carts and I guess I'm still a kid. You might be able to get me in a used Elise, but different price bracket even used.
Believe it or not CARMAX.com has under John Cooper Works as a search has a GP listed for sale at one of their lots and the price if I recall isnt too far off the average $34,998 with 7k miles check it out the mileage is low as well.http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...zip=02721&No=0 its located at their place in LExington Ky

Or being included in Evo magazine's Car of the Year!
I suspect that the recent Evo Car of the Year report helped.
