GP2 with no regrets :-)

GP 0444 (Production No. 1437)

This is the ultimate MINI IMO.... I still love my 06 GP and I loved my FJCW but this GP2 is so amazing to drive...

I agree. 80k miles in an 09 JCW was a blast, but not even close to the GP. This thing is an animal.

Thanks, so far I’m only at 1,200 miles so I’ve been taking it easy but I can tell that the acceleration is a lot quicker than the 09 FJCW just on normal driving. I’m changing the oil this weekend and should be opening it up shortly. It is definitely different for sure than the 09 and very different from my 06 GP. But they are two totally different animals. When I get in the 06 I feel like I’m at the track it a full blown race car…. Lol, GP2 is a lot more refined and a good ride for the long Texas Hill Country drives I like to do.
06 is still just a local zip code driver with just 12k on the odo

No problem excelent taste in wheels too im not too keen on the stock ones for the gp ( just my taste) but these really pull it together nicely. I like the looks of the new gp better than the old but ive heard the same thing from alot of people you mentioned the 06 is alot more of a rough edged track car the new ones alot more refined and comfy.

When you switched wheels did you reuse your original tpms sensors? If you bought new ones for the new wheels what has to be done to reset the system to recognize the new sensors?

I kept the OEM wheels wrapped with the Kumho's and bought new TMPS from Discount. They are the same OEM/MINI/BMW ones and all I did was put them on and when I went through the set-up it had already recognized them. On my 09 FJCW I had to reset them every time I swapped wheels. I was going to use the TPMS from the 09 JCW R113’s I have but that’s when I found they won’t work. They changed the frequency sometime in 2011 to the newer ones. I have not gotten any codes since the swap out. Dealer wanted $189ea, discount did them for $75.00, DT can get the wheels for you too… I can get you hooked up. Linda in HMMS (with 0038) bought a set of the black 18’s for hers last week. Jerry from NM Eng set up a vendor purchase order account so I could buy them at DT and they would ship directly from NM Eng… I had them M&B them and just picked them up and put them on at home. I wanted to make sure they were perfect before I took um… and they were.

I ended up buying a spare with additional TPMS and tire; it should be in next week. It’s coming from the same batch of wheels so the color will match.

OH,...
Well, I guess you could call NM and ask for Jerry, tell him to set you up with the same Discount Tire deal as Stuart in Houston. He can get you the PO # and then just have your DT guy make it happen. I just know that the guy at WB DT gave me and Linda really good deals. I especially got a super deal since I got the Memorial Day weekend discounts.... it was like $400 in total savings. He worked with us on the Rims and TPMS and got us the tires at a great price too. They were even cheaper than on-line deals. It may be easier to just cancel the tire deal and get the whole package from the WB DT since they know all about it. They can have them ordered in 10 minutes…. He knows Jerry at NM pretty good now!!!! Let me know what happens and I can get you the guy's name. They know to put the best guy on the job to mount the tires and not screw them up.

they are 215/40, nm Eng said 225/35 would work and clear with no problems as that’s what’s on their test GP2 but I wanted more sidewall and better ride as I go on long weekend trips. They said a 225/40 would hit the coil overs.

These are 18" and are wrapped in Hankook evo V12s, i love these tires, had them on my 09 FJCW with the JCW 18” R113s.

Yes they are definitely lighter; I noticed that when swapping them out... I never weighed them but seemed a lot lighter to me.

The car handles and drives fantastic with this set-up. No rubbing issues at all.
Hope this helps.... most people don't care for 18s but I love um.....
