Has anyone flashed the ECU on their GPs
Has anyone flashed the ECU on their GPs
I am wondering if their is a flash for the ecu specialized for the Gp.
Ive been looking for someone that has done it, but there is no one .
If anyone knows of where I can get a flash for the Gp, just respond to the post.
Thanks

I dont know either, plus its in euro so I dont even know the conversion to USD. But thanks for the research
That's the symbol for Pound's sterling, not euro's
1 British pounds = 1.9985 U.S. dollars

There's no reason to have a GP specific tune. The GP has no inherent special properties that require a tune used only for it. Your "GP Tune" is the same tune anyone with a normal MCS that has an intercooler, pulley, intake, and exhaust would get
. I'd mention the head but the JCW head is such a joke it's not even worth mentioning. They slap it on there just to justify the cost.I haven't had good luck with MTH in the past, it threw my AF WAY out of wack, and in all honesty didn't do a damn thing other than raise the rev limiter. Don't waste your money on silly flashes, go out and get your car dyno tuned and spend the extra money. You'll be glad you did
.
I have a flash for the GP but of all the models Mini produced the GP is superior. What this means is that with the GP a lot of the gains available have been addressed from the factory so the delta of before and after is not as large as with the other models including the JCW cars. It still will benefit from a flash and yield higher output it's just starting from a higher level. You can pm me for details.

If I had my ECU updated, I'd want a more linear throttle. I feel like the GP's ECU is set up so that all the throttle is in the first 1/2 or less of the travel. This makes the car jumpy and exciting, but I'm having more trouble being smooth with the throttle than i had with my 480HP blown m coupe, which is something of a surprise. I don't feel this way in my wife's cooper S. I probably wouldn't mind on the street, but I track this car and smoothness is everything on the track.
A linear throttle was a benefit of the conforti shark injector for my m coupe. Before, the throttle was pretty flat (think parking) for about the first half, then there was essentially an ON switch (think VOOOM!). After, throttle was linear and control was vastly improved. No HP gain at all, but the car was a million times better on the track. I don't know if anyone can do this for the GP.

this sounds like you are talking about the torque curve on the car. yes, stock it does seem to jump more one you get half through the powerband. with the LDG tune, your torque gets bumped up down in the mid range of the powerband leading to a much more smoother powerband. the extra torque down low is a lot more fun too.
Most cars with fly-by-wire throttles have most of the range allocated to relatively low throttle settings, allowing fine and easy adjustments when normally driving. They then have a steep ramp from about 1/2 throttle to full throttle, in say the last 1/4 of the accelerator pedal: on the street, you are usually either making fairly delicate adjustments at low throttle, or you are pulling on to the fwy or racing to that next light. Hardly anyone needs a lot of fine throttle resolution between 3/4 and 7/8 throttle.
As far as I can tell, the mini cooper S has a relatively normal throttle mapping conforming to the above.
As far as I can tell, the mini GP has an unusual throttle mapping where you get to 2/3 or 3/4 real throttle in the first 1/2 of accelerator travel. This gives you a very jumpy car which is fun to drive, but it can be hard to roll on the throttle very smoothly. Certainly I'm having a hard time driving my new GP as smoothly as I can drive my wife's cooper S or as smoothly as I was able to drive my blown m coupe. Some of this is practice, but I'm an advanced HPDE student and I should really be able to drive this car smoothly if I'm trying. I'll get there, but I'd still rather have a linear throttle map.
Probably LDG could give me the linear throttle map. They aren't near rhode island, but I have an excuse to go to baltimore sometimes, so maybe I can visit.

has anyone worked with detroit tuned? They have a custom chip for $800. Looks like you can do trial and error with them on your throttle mappings for $20/pop which isn't bad. This would include the update for those straight pipes, the cams, the turbo, and the 200 shot wet nitrous setup you need to get to that next light before that viper.
