GP super-charger " Blown "

My JCW super-charger blew on my GP !!!

I have not even pushed it hard at all since I got it !

And then I find out that there is no JCW super-chargers available anywhere in the US !!!

Why has Mini USA not have any parts for the GPs ??

They don't know when one will become available !!

So I get a Cooper for a loaner !! :impatient :impatient

Any more detailed info than 'it blew'?? It would be very unusual for the bearings/gears to go early.

The SC is the same unit as on all other MINIs, just with a 14.X% reduction pulley. Not surprising they wouldn't stock it, given there were only 400+ units sold in the US.
Sorry to hear it - hope they get you back on the road soon!

Are you just talking to the dealer or have you called on Mini itself too?

That sucks but at least you got a cool car to drive.

I don't understand why they don't know when one will become available. Besides the GP, the same supercharger with pulley is on all the standard JCW's plus the available dealer installed kit. Hopefully they'll have you one soon as the weather is starting to get nice.

I have 17,000 miles on it and it was making a funny high pitched whine and so I dropped it off yesterday at Mini of Towson and they told me later in the day that the super charger was "blown" and that they are trying to find one but that there was none in the US and none in Germany !

So I got in my loaner Cooper and I haven't heard anything yet from them.
I don't blame the dealership, I blame MINI for not having any parts available to fix my car.
Do they really think that ALL their cars will NEVER break ?

spare parts are a necessity....I would think a few calls by the shop would get one in! sounds like a caught with pants down syndrome.

GP super-charger " Blown "

I was driving on my way to work yesterday morning and I heard a very funny high-pitched whine from the engine that I never have heard before !

So I ran it over to Mini of Towson and left it for them to check. So i come back 5 hours later and find out that my super-charger was "blown" and that there were NONE available in the US and in Germany !!!
I have 17,000 miles on it and never pushed it hard like another member on here has !!!

So they gave me a loaner Cooper and told me they will call me when they find out anything !!

I don't blame the dealership for the delay, I blame MINI for not having any parts available to fix my GP !!!

Do they really think that none of these cars will break down ???? :impatient :impatient

Supercharger failure

The supercharger in my 2004 MCS also failed at about 16K. Like yours it began with a high-pitched squeal. Eventually seized. No explanation. Took about a week to get the part. No problem in the 35K since.

Threads merged.

I sympathize with your problem, but I think it will help keep the discussion focused if we have one thread on this instead of three.

I feel your pain. I was VERY VERY short sited of MINI to not have spear parts available for their new product. Or is their a problem with the cars that caused all the available spear parts inventory to be used up? Just joking on the last observation.

The reason for the delay.....
All GP Edition vehicle parts are called into MINI USA before being shipped. Once the Ok is given to the Service dept., The part is then shipped. MINI keeps on top of these parts to insure that no [non-GP] recieves any of these parts.
