Ugh, the sales dept is so wrong there, the mark ups are obscene. The only satisfaction I get stopping by there is seeing the same cars with the add on fees scrawled on the window sticker sitting and sitting unsold.

As for the OP, that is a tough one, I wouldn't want to fly somewhere if they won't take a deposit and guarantee the sale of the car. Not good customer service on their part I'd say, not nice.

why not just spend $200 to fly out to AZ to buy it?

for a car like the gp, it makes sense that they won't deal over the phone sight unseen. and this allottment thing, i actually think it's nice that they try to stick to it, keeping the car available to the people they're allotted for. it may be one of those mini corporate policy things. for example, when they first came out in '02 my roommate and i went to test drive 'em and the salesman nearly insisted we drive a stick (my roommate can't drive stick). and like someone else said, if you really want it, tell them you're coming and actually go out there to get it

When the title starts out "BS...", I thought it set the tone here. Sorry, just taking that for what it's worth.

Instead sitting there typing, why not rent a car this minute, drive there, buy the GP, and drop the rental behind the dealer (I think it's Budget)? That way you get a few break-in miles under the bridge.

P.S.: maybe some of our posts reek of jealousy.

They WERE 10k over sticker when all this GP stuff started. Im glad to see that they are getting a bit closer to what the cars should be selling at.

Anyway, taking your lead 89AKurt, I called them (480-538-mini) and said I want to buy the car right now. They refused and told me that I have to be physically there. I explained to them that it is not fair for me because what if on my way out there someone beat me to it. I offered to write a check for the whole car and not just a deposit. They still refused!!! Now WTF is that?
Please can somebody call them and confirm my sorry a#$ story? These oldtimers (more than 4000 posts) are not giving me a break
Peace

dude! Could you overnight a check and then get out there and drive it home?

I just called...

...and it's sold. To a Zonie.

azminiman: I'm too deep in debt as it is! Regarding the dyno testing, I don't have a pulley yet, so not this time. But keep teasing me.

Its quite differnt than your ideology.

I am offering a car for sale. I didn't say that it was the best car on the face of the planet and anything else is horrible. Also, I didn't insult the inteligence of anyone who didn't like the GP.

I don't only push the products I sell...

Victor, you are transparent... everyone sees it... nice try though...

Why didn't you stay long at the dyno day?

Justin, why don't you sell it to me? I called and talk to your manager who told me if she can't sell it to a Zonie, then I will be next in line. But I never heard from her. My GF called and talked to you but she did not hear anything from you either. What is going on man? Like I said, I will wire the check for the whole car and not a deposit. My offer still stand assuming that the problem below is fixed*. You have our phone number.

*My gf told me that you told her there is a scratch on the car and you guys are in the process of fixing it. Is this why the Zonie backed out???

BTW, I'm very sorry about mentioning one of your co-worker name in this thread. I was just venting. My bad!

KURT!!! the best time to dyno is when you ahve NOTHING done!!... oh man.. I didn't see this post or I woulda told you sooner.... that way when you start modding... you accually know you are getting right bang for your buck... this is the # 1 reason dynos have become so prevelent... to call BS when the mods don't add up... but you have to know what you started with... oh well

You are correct... but a little late! All I have at this time is the intake and exhaust. I would think anything over 167 hp (factory number at the wheel?) would show improvement.
Besides, I went for a mountain bike ride with my daughter. She made me feel like a dynosaur.

I know, I's just bustin' yer hump. Fact is I have cousins in Arizona. Are you familiar with the road coming down from Jerome into Clarkdale? Well that large house on the left side of the road was built by my late Aunt and Uncle in the mid 60's. At the time it was the largest house in Clarkdale, may still be. He was, for awhile, the only surgeon serving Clarkdale / Cottonwood.
One cousin is now a dentist in Sedona.
See Ya!
Jim
