GP Rear Hatch Fitment Problem

Has anyone had a problem with the rear hatch fitting flush to the body of their GP. I noticed that, when closed, it sticks up about 1/4" out from the body panels next to the tailights.
I have heard some other complaints with difficulty in closing the hatch without slamming. Mine is the same way but this other issue is irritating as well!
If anyone has a remedy or has had this problem and fixed by the dealer, I'd appreciate any input.
I also have a paint issue with one of the silver oval trim pieces in the rear bumper. It looks as though the paint didnt stick in one area, as if there was oil on the surface and a white round spot was left with no paint.
Under the warranty, should these items be fixed by the dealer? Anyone know if there is a time limit that a customer has to address these issues with a dealership. Besides that I love my GP!!
Thanks All
Carey

All you describe should and can be fixed by the dealer and totally under warranty.

Same problem on my '05 MCS. When I checked out the hinge for the boot I could see a small area of unpainted metal exposed on one side. Apparently it shifted somehow. You can do it yourself with a large torx fitting. The dealer is fixing mine this week while it's in for a couple of other things.

My GP hatch is noticably easier to close if a door is open or a window down; I guess these cars are pretty airtight?

There are four bumpers on the rear hatch (two on each side). The side has an adjustable bumper on the hatch and a non-adjustable bumper on the body. I turned the adjustable bumbers in a quarter turn at a time until the door closed much better. I ended up turning my bumpers in about 1/2 turn. The door still must be closed very deliberately but it does close better. I agree with ntrrb that the vehicles are very air tight so the hatch must be closed with some force to overcome the air pressure.

Ooh, I am glad I found this thread...

I am having the same problem and will try adjusting these bumpers when it's light outside!

Thanks!
