GP Wheels not "Unobtanium"

If someone moves fast EBay U.K. has a set of GP wheels and tires for about $1400. I wouldn't want to pay for shipping to the USA but a Brit or Euro denizen could get them!

are GP wheels really 7.75" wide? I've never heard of a wheel that width. . .

These arent OEM wheels, they are the Worx ones. It does say it in the description.

I do see that the tyre size is bigger than OEM. It also states All-Season tyres, which they aren't as well.

Item Description

Brand New MINI Cooper Worx GP alloy wheels with tyres, bolts, balanced and fitted

Spelling error or missleading ad? MINI COOPER WORX?

It shows how gullible I am. Con artists always say that they couldn't operate in the absence of greed. The price did seem to good to be true.

well, the seller does have significant positive feedback and does do paypal transactions (as opposed to cashier's checks, or money orders)...

That shows some accountability is taken as a seller. I wouldnt write off the deal just yet. At least not without a little digging.

I've also seen the Worx wheel on NAM. Looks the same, apart from the logo in the centercap saying "WORX"

I bought 2 OEM GP wheels from my dealer.....just in case. I paid under $300 per wheel (without tires obviously). They did ask me for my VIN number though. Apparently they have to show proof that the person buying them is a GP owner.

THANKS for the info. I'll go back and badger the local dealer. I want to have 1 wheel in reserve "just in case."

The place that distributes the Mini Worx GP wheel in the UK is called Rochford Tyres. I have contacted them and they will ship to the US.

http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/produ...l=&strSize=all

I was quoted 399GBP ($778) for just the wheels. Shipping was quoted at 179GBP ($348)

Total to my door for 4 of the 17 inch version would be $1126. Thats pretty steep but for as good as they look I was really tempted. I am still constantly looking for a US source for Mini worx wheels. Oh, another problem is that they only take direct bank transfer for US payments.

I have contact info to the individual who quoted the shipping and payment information if anybody needs it,
k

If some of the GP owners decide to get serious about handling they might be putting their wheels up for sale. Just keep a eye on the used adds and you may run into a deal.

I wonder if they are the same weight. Just checked with the parts dept and the OE wheels are around 386 each.

The OE ones are only available in 18 inch right? I am not fond of such large wheels on such a small car. I like the 17" GP replicas though...

I'm guessin' Morristown.

Their standard prices likely beat your employee discount. (Just ribbin' ya... I know you have no say in the parts dept. prices. I guess I could picket in front of Greg's big house...)

I would think that there could possibley be some used ones for sale as some owners might want to go the performace route with smaller / lighter wheels. Keep an eye out in the used parts areas perhaps.
