Ouch!

After 100K I started hearing a bit of noise from my T.O. bearing and soon after started getting some clutch slippage under moderate load in addition to some dripping of fluid under the trans at the bellhousing/engine mating surface. Got it up in the air and drained the lube...got about 1 cup!!! When we pulled the trans this is what we found! T.O. bearing had started to come apart and the pieces were wedging between the clutch and the bellhousing wearing a hole...hence the loss of lube from the trans and slipping of the clutch. I was amazed that the clutch worked at all! Really never sounded THAT bad.

Actually chunks of metal in the bellhousing but a hole is a hole and I can't imagine some of that aluminum didn't end up on the gear side of the trans. Hopefully only fine shavings....and alum. instead of steel!
