Cleaning GP Seats

Has anyone had any success in cleaning the cloth inserts on GP seats? I've tried foam upholstery cleaner, steam cleaning, etc. and have wound up with clean seats but an uneven "mottled" look.

I do this for the "space cloth" seats and would think the same would work for you.
What ever cleaner you use (I use just water in a spray bottle & a light misting of some aerosol cleaner)
Clean your spots . then to finish make sure that all of the cloth is equally wet.
and let it air dry . Otherwise you will have a mottled look and or be chasing spots for ever

I also have had problems trying to clean the cloth inserts without full success. These are just minor shaded spots.
- I have tried various foam cleaners without being able to fully remove the spots.
- I have rubbed the spots with a damp towel without success.
- I have used a scrub brush to try and really get into the fibers but that just created fuzz ***** that I had to trim off.
- Even with getting the whole insert damp, it still comes out a little blochy where I scrubbed the spots.

Next I will try the suggested water/cleaner on spots and get the whole insert wet with water.

Steam Vac didn't work? Darn....

A friend spilled some Pepsi on the cloth part of the passenger seat and I was hoping a steam vac would handle the situation....

COR BLMY, I have Space Cloth in my '05 TRACKRAT and the difference in the GP and it are like proverbial "Night & Day". I've cleaned the Space Cloth with no problems but the GP inserts are an entirely different matter. :(

UP-DATE: Over the week-end, I tried another product, SUN MAGIC. It's a butter-like gel in a small plastic tub. Following directions, I dissolved two tablespoons in 2 qts. of warm water. I immersed and wrung out a small terrycloth washcloth, then applied to the seat insert in a circular motion evenly, immersing and wringing out the cloth again when needed. Then, using a clean, dry towel, dried the insert as best I could. Allowed it to dry overnight and the results were much improved. Perhaps one more application and the "splotchiness" will have disappeared.

Good news, thanks for the update.

Just wanted to note that the US Spec GP has "Checkmate" cloth/leather combo seats (a variation of the sport seats found in the Checkmate Edition)

Thanks can't wait to try SUN MAGIC. Have had several professionals try to remove several dropped Venti Starbucks black coffees from my seats and not so great results.

Just an FYI for anyone who has a GP in the future and needs help getting out stains, here's my process.

I used the foam brush carpet stain remover. Scrubbed it in, let it sit, and then used a damp terry cloth to get most of the soap out. I then took my steamer and fully soaked the cloth. Let it cool a litle and then took a clean terry cloth and blotted the surface. I did every day for about a week and i removed all the deep dirt out of the cloth. They now look almost brand new! Hope this helps someone in the future!
