gp manufacture date?

Hi

I've been searching the forum and I can't find the answer. Also searched the placards on the door opening and under the bonnet. Was the gp manufactured before may 2006? I assume it was after, but tire rack makes a distinction re: Wheel fitment.

I know the P.O took posession in november 06 which means a post-may build is possible?

Does the vin contain the actual month and year?

Also, what was the change regarding wheels? Hub size? Bolt pattern?

Thanks

Not sure on build date....but the change was to a thicker lug bolt...occurred after mini had a tire/rim loss during testing..(engineers determined that the current/standard bolt size/pattern could be inadequate in some situations)....was for them a simpler fix than changing the pattern to one that had an extra bolt.

thanks.

I assume the gp is post may 2006 because:

tire rack has as a factory option the 205 40 18 post may '06
but does not have that option pre may '06.

teeots, when you call the TireRack ask for Tom; he knows all about the GP and what will fit. He sold me the winter OZ's you have.

All of the GPs got the new, larger 14 mm lug bolts. In fact, I think they were the first, although the rest of the cars followed soon after that summer.

The GP also marked the start of the new Siemens radio (replaced the earlier Alpine units). The buttons are in different places and are shaped differently, but they're pin-compatible and interchangeable with the earlier ones.
