jcw wc50 vs our GP's
Excellent point! If I could buy a GP and add some options to it, I'd do it in a second. Unfortunately, there no way I'd ever drive a car that didn't have a sunroof or wasn't a convertible. FANTASTIC looking car though.
I miss my sunroof from my 03 Velvet Red MC and would actually dig a sunroof for my GP....they should have included it.....and the sound proofing material...and the Recaro seats...otherwise its PERFECTho
The GP is not only a fun car that I drive everyday; rain or snow it is also unique and limited production. Yes you can find a way to get one of our unique carbon fiber wings or some other GP part but at the end of the day it's still not a GP....it is simply a POSER. I say that will all due respect in the spirit of u-ification. The only way to GP your mini is to get a GP and GP yourself. Peace!
Like everyone I am seeing my GP come off waranties this November so I'm kicking around what to do. For me; do I buy the mx for about 1200, do I buy the extended warranty for about 1600, do I sell my GP (how much would you pay) and go back to a beemer???

Unique for a couple of years, then the R56 came out stock with the most advantageous part off the GP, the trailing arms. Now it only has the distinction of being the fastest stock MINI with the old engine....that, and the paint color.

as far a paint color . . .
It's got it's own color = Connaught Green (which almost looks black) and it's non-metallic unlike the BRG.
I think I have the last available WC50 in the US.

I saw this one on Ebay last week or the week before. AMAZING car! So I'm guessing no sunroof option is available? I know it sounds petty, but I've tried going without a sunroof twice now. The first time lasted 6 weeks before I sold the car and bought another and the second time lasted two weeks.
Coming from an E46 convertible, I'm actually tired of soft top convertibles so I don't see myself getting another 'vert this go around.

Ditto.
It has Navigation but no moonroof.
I guess that just made decision a LOT easier. (Not that I'm looking to drop $45k on a car, but I was considering a used one down the road).

No Nav - only the UK release got NAV -
Now I don't regret not having $45k to drop on a MINI.
I obviously LUCKED out with my last MINI. It was FULLY loaded when I bought it used. The first MINI I ever looked at was exactly how I would have ordered it new option-for-option; right down to the color and interior. Shouldn't have sold it.
Good luck to all who picked up a MC50. They still look amazing!

I should have mine in 10 days or so, it was offloaded at Baltimore yesterday. If you look you can still find one. Production #404 is sitting at the dealer in Huntington Station NY.
No offense to the WC50, it actually is a good deal compared to other loaded JCW's, but there's no comparison between it and a GP, in my opinion. The only differences between it and a standard JCW are cosmetic. The GP, while having a similar or greater amount of significant cosmetic changes (unique color, wheels, etc), it had many performance-related changes as well... Power, suspension, brakes, intercooler, wing, wheels, rear seat delete, rear STB, etc.
I'd love to own either, but the GP is more "special", in my opinion, because it moved further away from a "regular" JCW than any other special edition MINI.
With the added torsional rigidity of the R56, is it really still the stiffest MINI? Is it lighter than a base R56 Cooper? I'm not trying to bash the GP by any means (as evidenced by my post above), I'm just wodering if you have sources to back that up. A comparison of weight and torsional rigidity among all the different models would be interesting.

I'm not sure why people are balking at the price?
My factory (no dealer add-ons) 2006 JCW stickered for $37k even not counting accessories. It had Navi, back-up sensors, full JCW suspension...pretty much every option but bluetooth on top of full carbon fiber dash, mirror caps, scoop, and rear spoiler (those WERE dealer-installed)
I'm looking for ANOTHER JCW (I regrettably sold mine) and have run across more than a handful of GPs that seem to be holding their value very well. Unfortunately, they don't fit the mold of what I'm looking for. They're very track/weight-proportionally oriented (read STRIPPED down) and I'm looking for one with the options like the one I had. I DO understand people's desire for the GP and its a beautiful car in its own right.
I've optioned out a new JCW that topped $45k for the options I'd want on a new one (to make it comparable to my previous one). Needless to say, I won't be spending that kind of money on a MINI, so I'll have to settle for a gently used, possibly less-optioned one.
$40k seems reasonable at first glance, but if its missing some of the key JCW components, I dunno...Is the panoramic roof available? That would be a deal-breaker for me.

I think it is just a little over the price of a JCW Clubman....and almost 2/3rds of what I paid for my first 3 bdr home -
Inskip MINI had one last week......#407.
#405 is still available at Inskip MINI in RI.

I'm not an AC Cobra expert, but I'm fairly certain 5-lug wheels means it's a replica. The originals had a single center lug.
