I am not feeling the red wheels for street use. For a track car yes, to look at everyday no.

But that is my Opinion which means nothing anyway .

I'm lovin' everything but the wheels. The red seems a bit overpowering to me.

No problem guys! I was expecting a bit from both camps of lovin and hatin. In person it looks really kool (to me!) but it certainly ties in well with the red mirrors, badging and interior of the GP.

Thanks again folks for taking a look!

Suprised to see you do that to a GP after commenting about reupholstered GP seats; however, not a bad look but I think it would look nicer to put some red into the stock GP wheels. (my opinion only)
I'm going to auto-cross my GP next year, they would be nice for 2nd set for that. How heavy are they?

I think it looks pretty good, I think it would look better if the wheels were the same color/shade as the mirror caps.

garylimey: That is beauty of keeping the stock parts! No molestation of the OEM stuff. They weigh 16.4 lbs each in the 17" size. I have them in stock if you need a set in either the red or the polished as well. More info on my site. Thanks again!

PARTSMAN: In person it is hard to see the difference but it is slightly off. I may look to the local body shop to do a colored clear coat over them to get it a bit closer. Thanks again for the post!

Thanks guys!

since you asked....and I hope this isn't too harsh...it's by far the ugliest set of wheels I've ever seen on a MINI.

how could anyone think that's harsh?!

i think it would probably look cleaner if the wheels were body colored. maybe red trim on the ring?

i think it also doesn't help that the jpg compression is bleeding out the red alot.

I kinda like the wheels. I wouldn't normally go for red wheels, but they kinda work with the colors and with the red mirrors. It still might be a bit much to look at every day, but that's for you to decide.

Wheels are awful. Sorry, had to be totally honest. I concur with vdubdoug, they would be fine on a race track, but not for the street. Much, much too loud, and fugly. Something body colored or anthracite might be more tasteful/appealing to the eye.

Love the car overall though!

BTW, when are those new gauges going to be up on your web site???

No, adding more red would be a bad idea. The OEM red mirror caps are controversial enough, (yet acceptable), but going any further with red as an accent color is just getting carried away.

It's got that JDM look with the red wheels. Is that good or bad?

Strong opinions

Adam did ask for opinions, he has the full spectrum. I like the red on the GP, I agree with a couple of comments the wheels look more like a track wheel versus a street wheel. I believe it is all about the statement each of us wants to make with our MINI, Adam's is a little more in your face which works for his GP.

Nice to see everyone using the GP as it is intended, drive and enjoy.

As an aside, I have not seen a MINI here in Beijing, yet. Perhaps on Wednesday. I might have to look hard.

I like the idea of the red wheel- very different. However, something isn't quite working with those red wheels. I can't decide if it's the polished lip or the thickness of the spokes but it (IMHO) is almost too much red. If the spokes were thinner there would be more empty space to balance out the red. I think those wheels would look better in anthacite or flat black with a red outline and maybe a red anodized center cap to minic a center lug-even better if you could fab a center lug set up!

Thanks guys for the feedback! It is certainly appreciated. Sometimes I enjoy pushing the envelope a bit. The GP is great car no matter what!

The ALTA R53 gauge packages are VERY close to release. I have the final instructions etc. on my desk now for my review. They are white backlit during the day, amber at night with red needles to match the OEM gauges. Optional gauge surrounds reduce ambient glare during the day or night. They are sold as a set with our ALTA pod, and include basice wiring instructions with wire codes for connections. Fully electronic, so no tubes, oil etc. traversing the firewall. Nice clean and simple! Plus they have warning and peak. Most kits are less than $300 complete! Sorry for the delay.

Chat soon my friends!

Gotta disagree. All red wheels never look good. Hot rods can get away with it sometimes, although even they usually have hubcaps, trim rings or whitewall tires to help set them off.

I agree that that one looks good, but it also has polished rim edges, which helps it look ok.

ALL red wheels, like this:

Not so good.
