Happens here to - it's the nature of these forums.

People project their image and their ego into their cars and end up not being able to take any sort of criticism regarding same.

Very true. Happens in every car forum. The worst (IMHO) is when there is a new generation and the previous generation(s) rip the new car apart. Saw it all the time when I was in the VW scene and the MINI scene saw it in '02 when all the classic mini owners lambasted what they saw as a complete departure from Mini's heritage and is now happening all over this forum in regards to the R56. Car people can be amazingly territorial/insecure.

its just not "car people" but human nature.

No one wants to admit they may not have bought the "best' ... after all ... they bought it. And people tend to fear the new and unknown.

Take a look here

The same then happened when TTAC dissed the MINI ... defensive ppl will come up with some kind of excuse to diss the test.

Wow - very sad.

On a lighter note, it appears the Mini community has something in common with the 'vette community - the inability to admit, after two medicore comparo showings, that there may be a better car on the market.....

Here's a glimpse into how the oft referred to "juvenile" and "ricer" Fast and Furious crowd took the fourth place finish of the Evo - with an amount of grace that some others should note and perhaps try to emulate in the future.

That was my first thought when I followed the link... "how can he do this?"

As if it's difficult to find a webpage with the article already available and just link to it. Poor guy scanned it page by page thinking he was doing someone a favor probably.
