"Coco mats" is a generic term for mats made from coconut fibers. A variety of manufacturers make them at different levels of quality and price. I don't know about other sources, but I can vouch that the ones from cocomats.com are premium quality.

I can also vouch for cocomats.com. I'll order a set for the soon to be mine Oxygen Blue MCa (probably black/gray) based upon how much I love the set I have in my Honda Civic Coupe daily driver. They are heavy, beautifully made, totally hide the dirt and gunk that sneaks into the car, and DO NOT slide around. My set is a year and a half old and looks like brand new. In fact, my SO just ordered a set for the new Nissan Versa (cool cool little car).

As soon as they get to my house I'll have a set of the black w/grey dot as well. My parents got me them for a b-day present, it's been about 3 weeks so I think they should arrive soon!

So I'm sold on the quality of the cocomats.com mats...but not on the color match. They don't look like they match right in the photos I've seen. Is that correct, or is it just the lighting in the photos?

Lighting is always tough with these - when you don't use the flash, it's too dark. When you DO use the flash, it makes colors that otherwise "match" look like they don't.

Best thing to do - request FREE samples of the colors you're interested in - that's what I did...

Personally, I'm VERY happy with the black and blue dot mats and how they match my cool blue - and, frankly, I think they'd look just as good with hyper blue or electric blue... cause, well, they're just DOTS... and all that black makes 'em kinda blend in...

It's not the dots that are bothering me. It's the black. Is it quite a bit different from the stock carpeting...because it looks like it is.

Yeah, the Cool Blue is *really* hard to coordinate with because the blue carpet and blue leather seats are so dark. The seats in particular are almost a mix of charcoal grey and blue - much darker than the "Navy Blue" or "Dark Blue" that everyone offers.

I went with the Blue Cocomats with "Natural" dots (kind of a tan colour), and I think the carpet itself is a pretty good match, but the vinyl that they used to edge the mats is much lighter, making it not so good of a match. They still look great, though, and they wear like iron!

Hmmm. Don't know... my carpet is actually blue - side effect of a cool blue car with body color dash and dark blue leather seats - that's why it looks so different in my pics (and some others).... I had black rubber mats before, so this is an improvement, color-coordination-wise...

But the black of my mats is quite black...

Again - get a sample and you'll see.

The stock carpeting (and interior vinyl trim) is like a dark charcoal, with a bit of blue that tends to get highlighted in flash photos. I have the all-black from cocomats.com (great herringbone weave!) and they are a dark black so the color is not a perfect match. However in the car the color doesn't look mismatched for a couple of reasons. They fit perfectly and snugly, and fill out the space to the corners. It's like the effect of painting just one wall of a room -- if you paint out to the corner boundaries, a slight color mismatch may not be noticable. Also, the black is a true neutral black that goes well with any dark color.

I got mine and they are great! Fit is perfect-they don't slide or bunch and they some how retained the coconut scent. It's wearing off but I can still catch it when I get in the car- especially on a hot day. We had a MINI meet last week and I mentioned the scent to someone interested, they looked sceptible so I told them to open it up and smell-she turned around and said WOW-they really do smell like cocnuts and called a few others over to check it out. The quality is impressive as can be seen in the shear weight of the mats-about 12/13 lbs for the front 2.

And old thread, but I just got my black/white (or gray) dot Cocomats, and I LOVE 'em. Got them from cocomats.com; a bit pricey ($135 for the pair) but well worth it. I recently purchased a set of Mini all black carpeted mats, but will be selling them on eBay, as the second you put your feet on them, they're full of fuzz and gravel that stick out like a sore thumb.

Check out the cocoa's..you'll like them; especially if you're a "clean freak".

Yep... very sharp! I've bought five sets of those over the years, well-made products.

Man, I miss some of the posters in this thread.

Thanks for resurrecting this old thread...I really liked the way the look, and just ordered a set of black/red dot from cocomats.com for my 2014 Roadster on order! I think they will definitely enhance the look and feel of the new JCW interior.

You're welcome, Kenny! You'll love the mats, and the quality built into them by Cocomats.com is excellent. Have had mine in the Mini for about a month now and they still look like they just came outta the box! Also, a simple shake-out and they're clean and ready to go again. Best of all, they'll bust up that "sea of black" look in your car and throw a subtle but sweet splash of color into the cabin.

Enjoy!!!!
