Is anyone going to be going to this event? There's traditionally an enormous SoCaL caravan that heads up there.

I know a few years ago the Santa Barbara PD was out strip searching EVERY SINGLE CAR that left the fairgrounds... it was a bit ridiculous. They must have maid 100k in tickets that day... . That's one of the only reason's i'm not 100% sure i'll go.

My wife and I will be taking our MINI's this year. This will be our 4th year going now and coming from BMW's the last 3 years will be fun to do it in a MINI.

I think the caravan up my first time was way too fast and reckless. There was an accident right on the 101 from the 405N due to someone not paying attention. The cops up there just camp out now for those that want to donate to the city funds with their stupid fast driving. Other than that it's not bad for the cops (has not been the last 3 years).

This year they are doing the road rally again I believe so it will jam up the 101 as it did last year.

 

Yea, while i'm well aware of my own driving abilities and limits, some people either arn't, or just completely ignore them . I've been on enough drives with wreckless people (Not to point any fingers cause all the car groups do it, but it's typically the vDub crowd) to know that it's usually best to skip these types of events. I do enjoy a brisk canyon drive from time to time, although I certainly don't drive at the limit on the street .
