Anyone going to see RUSH in their MINI?
I wanna go so bad. But, I only have 1 other friend who likes Rush and I don't know if I could convince him to go. He has seen them before but I haven't. I could also go see Ratt and Poison on tour this summer. Anybody want to go to see Ratt and Poison? Hhmmmm. "Round and Round" and "Nothin' but a Good Time" or "Limelight" and "Fly By Night"?
Sept 6th, Marcus Ampitheater - 15th time I will have seen them over the past 25 years - some tours, multiple times. First time back in '81 for Moving Pictures - I was in seventh grade...hooked from that moment on.
did anyone get there tickets on the presale. Hopefully I will get some decent tix this Tues. for Minneapolis....And yes, I will be driving my Mini to the concert.....

(not Limbaugh, god forbid)....
I've been a fan since 1977 (age 14) and have proudly seen every tour since 1980. Except once while I was in the Air Force and missed one tour.
Section 103, SEVENTH ROW, in front of Alex at the PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ... or as Neil Peart puts it, the MEGA FINANCIAL INSTITUION ARTS CENTER. :-) We'll have the MINI for some tailgate fun.
Have you guys read Neil's new book, Roadshow? Fantastic read!! Five stars.

This presents a dilemna. I want to go to see Rush in NJ, so I get great music and a chance for a road trip. But, my kids will want to go, too, of which there are 5, which means I won't be able to take the MINI. Maybe I'll just go to see them down here.
Hmmmm, the boot maybe? ;-) if they want to go that badly. well, maybe not.... five kids + you = EXPENSE.
My brother and I are going and meeting people at the Arts Center. My wife doesn't want to do Rush again. Vapor Trails was enough in 2002 for her. She appreciates Rush but doesn't love them like I do. Oh well.

Within a ten-month period, Neil Peart suffered family losses so devastating that they left him a ghost -- physically a man but with nothing.
No hope, meaning, faith, or desire to keep living. One year after the first tragedy, Neil was choosing between life and his own death. Finally, all he could decide upon was motion. He got on his BMW R1100GS motorcycle, and over the next 14 months, rode 55,000 miles, in search of a reason to live. On a journey of escape, exile, and exploration, he traveled from Quebec to Alaska, down the Canadian and American coasts and western regions, to Mexico and Belize, and finally back to Quebec. While riding "the Healing Road," Neil recorded in his journals his progress and setbacks in the grieving/healing process, and the pain of constantly reliving his losses.
He also recorded with dazzling, colorful, entertaining, and moving artistry, the enormous range of his travel adventures, from the mountains to the sea, from the deserts to Arctic tundra, and the dozens of memorable people, characters, friends, and relatives he met along the way, and who increasingly contributed to his healing and sense of meaning and purpose. He began the journey with nothing, "the Ghost Rider." What he finally attains is joy, love, and indelible memories of the most extraordinary journey of his life.
Actually, I am in Neil's shoes right now. Part of my healing ride is the Dragon. That particular stretch of road and the big MOTD event hinges around how I dealt with my Mom's bout with cancer, her brief recovery, and her eventually succumbing to it. In '04, MOTD was my only vacation. There was a period of time between the treatments and before the surgery that I was able to take a trip and unwind. Right after MOTD, she went in for surgery. Later that year Mom recovered pretty nicely. The following year she asked if she could join me for MOTD '05. She had a great time meeting all the cool people, taking drives, and even a couple gonzo runs on the Dragon. In '06, Mom was beginning to slow down a bit, and tests were being done to determine whether her cancer had returned. It was during MOTD '06 that she found out the very bad news. She would not tell me until I got home, so as to not spoil my trip. She died on June 29.
She is the only family I had, or known.
So, this year's Dragon Run is full of unknowns for me, but it's also a very pivotal event as well. I go to remember the good times, and the bad.
Here we are, flying by and waving in '05. It was a good year.
