DAY TIME DRIVING LIGHTS

Does anyone know if it's possible to DYI reprogram the computer to switch ON the
day time running lights function or does this have to be done by the dealer?

What year is your car? It seems that R56 owners can do much of the programming themselves.

Dealer has to do it... and the charge for doing this... $250!!! Try and sweet talk them into 'flicking the switch' for free!

MINIUSA has a policy that says you are entitled to a free program at the time of pickup. If the dealer didn't offer it or never told you about all the options, then you should be able to talk them into a free programming. However, if you can't get it for free, they should only charge you half to a full hour of labor. If they charge more, go to another dealer!

Local dealer charges $30 to reprogram options.

And there are some shops that have the BMW/Mini factory diagnostics. They can do it as well. Call around. It shouldn't be too much.

$250 is a flat out rip off.
