My used Mini came with the Next warranty, and I have a question about it. The dealer said that if I make any modifications, the warranty is void. Is this true? I wanted to install an iPod adapter (not the OEM one). If so, this really sucks

 

I would assume that you would be fine by installing that, if there any other dealers in the area I would call them and see how mod friendly their Service Department is. Many dealers will only disallow warrenty work if they can realistically claim that your mod is the cause of the problem. Such as installing a new intercooler, and then having an overheating problem. Some dealers could care less whats on your car, they won't fix it under warrenty if its not all OEM. And a very few dealers will give you warrenty work on any OEM part, no matter what non-OEM part you have on your MINI. So I'd say call around your other local dealers, also, what dealership told you this? Maybe someone local to you can confirm what your MA said.

 

Is this a MINI endorsed warranty or something that was bought at the dealership?

If it is a dealer after-market warranty then you need to be real careful about mods. I would also check to see if the warranty is valid at any other dealers. Some of these warranties are only good at the dealer it was purchased from.
