2007 Classic Motorsports Mitty
I've been asked by the very Mini-supportive staff at Classic Motorsports and Grassroots Motorsports magazines to help them in promoting an upcoming event within the Mini community. This should be a lot of fun for all of us, so let's start planning roadtrips now!
The nitty gritty on the 2007 Classic Motorsports “Mitty”
It's that time of year again. Time to head to Road Atlanta for the 2007 Classic Motorsports Mitty Presented by Mazda. Now in its 30th year, the Mitty has become the vintage race to attend in the South. Its unique combination of great Historic Sportscar Racing action, amazing cars both in the paddock and parked throughout the infield, friendly people, and the sights and sounds of Road Atlanta make the weekend a truly fun experience rain or shine.
The Mitty Challenge will again offer an incredible variety of historically significant race cars - both on display in the paddock and racing once again at Road Atlanta. Sanctioned by the Historic Sportscar Racing association, the Mitty will feature SCCA Pro Mazda MX-5 Cup Series, Grand IMSA Reunion - IMSA Cars from the 70's-90's GTU/GTO/GTP, including original IMSA staff and teams. Other features include B.O.S.S. Formula cars and Historic Formula Cars including Formula Atlantic, 3-litre. F1, F5000, F2; Historic Single Seat Can-Am, GTP/WSC Series, Championship of Makes, Historic GT Series, Historic Stock Cars, Klub Sport Porsche Challenge, Joe Bonnier 2-litre, Anglo-American GT Challenge, ROLEX Endurance Challenge Series Races and Feature Races.

Mini will be the featured marque of The Mitty and will have a huge area by turns 6 and 7 at Road Atlanta. There will also be an all-Mini autocross experience on Sunday (April 29, 2007) open to Minis (new and old) FREE parade laps around Road Atlanta and an opportunity to purchase Track Touring laps (higher speed laps around the track).
I will be updating this thread with information that is specific to the Mini activities (and this means "new" Minis as well as classics Minis!) If you have any questions about the Mini-related activities, feel free to ask here and I'll try to get answers for you... but for now this is all that I can share with you.

NASA is sanctioning the autocross and helmet and tech will be
according to NASA autocross rules. M95 or better is sufficient.
R compound tires are permitted at the autocross, but with no timing or scoring, why waste them? But like a wise man once said - smoke 'em if you got 'em!
They are still trying to work with MINI USA to get the new '07 Minis there for a Ride & Drive event... I'll keep this thread updated with any new details. Here's the latest bulletin:

Several years ago, the crew at Classic Motorsports set out to create the type of event we would want to attend with our friends. One held at a race track with tons of great cars to look at both in the infield and in the race paddock, historic racing action, test drives of new cars on an autocross course, FREE parade laps, opportunities for faster laps on track in my own car, seminars, meet and greets with the people who shaped motorsports over the past 50 years, an autocross, a classic car auction and of course—a big Saturday night party.
Well, they’ve been doing it and they’re going to do it again April 27-29, 2007 at the Classic Motorsports Mitty Presented by Mazda out at Road Atlanta.
